(Think Progress)   Fox & Friends brings on Santa Claus to discuss the War on Christmas. I was going to snark, but I'm amazed that Gretchen Carlson was able to contain her excitement over meeting the big guy   (thinkprogress.org) divider line 86

bringing on the very embodiment of the secularization and commercialization of christmas is definitely a good way to drive home the existence of a war on christmas...

You know, I never had a problem being Santa Claus, but there was a time a few years back when suddenly I started showing up at Christmas parties and was told that they were having holiday parties. So therefore, they didn't need a santa anymore.

So...you were just showing up at parties without being hired?

That's creepy.

I'm all over this war on Christmas thing. I even waterboarded an elf.

Santa has nothing to do with the religious aspects of Christmas, so whether they were called Christmas parties or holiday parties, it didn't really matter.  Maybe they didn't want a creepy old man in a costume drunkenly leering at people all night.

war on christmas? pft, no, if anything its celebrated more and more every year.

it's firmly conquered what was once traditional thanksgiving holdings, it now seeks to encroach on Halloween lands! what's next? Post Christmas holiday season? santa and jesus all the way till febuary?

We must stop the insidious march before our entire calendar is red and green!

We brought the epitome of the secularization of Christmas on to talk about the war on Christmas so you can pretend to hate Christmas with the guy who is the reason for the season of not celebrating.

F*ck you, man! Santa was there in the god damn manger when Jesus was born! Even though his birth was probably more likely in the Spring, so why was he wearing such a big heavy coat in the Spring? I dunno, maybe he was hiding candy in there for the Baby Jesus.

Exactly. If they wanted to be serious about the story, they should have interviewed a Jesus impersonator.

Christmas just needs to divide into two holidays. The birth of Christ in the manager to a virgin women can still be called Christmas.
In addition there is a Secular winter holiday for everyone with lights, fat men in red suits, and evergreen trees. This will be called X-mas (don't have to change many of the songs this way). This way there is no war on Christmas, it will be just as celebrated as Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa.

/yes, i know this will never happen
//but i like X-mas cheer

They brought on Santa? Interesting. Let's see, what have we got here? Who would help grown men peel the focus from the baby Jesus on his birthday? Who could it be, I just don't know. Could it be...

My parents are very focused on the War on Christmas and keep Christ in Christmas stuff. However, on actual Christmas, maybe 5% of the day is religious.

I just find it really hard to think of someone wishing my a happy holiday season as an act of war.

Mine too, it's usually when the old man says "Jesus Christ, I'm stuffed" after eating a large popcorn at the movie theaters.

Nothing exemplifies the birth of Jesus like a fat man in a red suit. This war on Christmas BS is just that, BS. If it's about the Jesus, then ditch the tree (Pagan ritual) and the fat man, 'cause neither have jack to do with jesus.

Oh, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Because we all have God in us? And therefore Jesus? And therefore we all have Dec. 25th as our "other birthday"?

more outrage over a manufactured problem...

I see several 'Keep Christ in CHRISTmad' signs on my way to work, they're all the same and I assume some church is passing them out...or maybe FOX got wise and found a new way to milk their increasingly gullible dependent herd.

There's one large wooden sign, obviously homemade with large red lettering that says, 'STOP THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS!!!' too.

That's my favorite, I like to picture the guy working on it all red faced and pissed off...he runs out of paint and heads into homedepot. He walks in and the first thing he sees is 20 different kinds of artificial xmas trees, an entire section devoted to xmas lights, xmas songs blaring through the store and man dressed like Santa passing out free popcorn...and then it happens, Santa says 'Happy Holidays! Ho Ho Ho'

oh the horror, how do christians make it through the day the poor poor christians...

I really see no need to murder them... until you've tortured them via waterboarding for a few days first.
