This is true.  The victim learned a thing or two from ol' Charlie, don't you know, so it's best to stay away from Talisman Road.

Hate to break up the D&D party, but the article indicted that the assailants assaulted the "knight" as they left. Whatever he did with his blade, he apparently didn't do it enough.

...so i can get shot by the cops?

No thanks. I'll just not answer the door.

The article also states that the assailants "tried to steal a TV", but not that they were successful. Whatever was done with the blade, it was sufficient.

Apparently the homeowner was outnumbered and did not even lift.

Perhaps, but Sir Galahad he ain't.

I acknowledge that I would prefer my XD45 over a scimitar, but if only armed with the scimitar I would consider myself successful were I able to deter a thief intent upon stealing my television.

Especially if I was actually able to physically defend against a thief capable of lifting a KDS-60a2020.

Committing perjury probably isn't going to scare off any robbers.

the homeowner should have pulled a shotgun and ended them all, and that would have been the end of the crime spree for them

And if it really was the police it would have gone a little something like this.

The problem today is the police use the same tactics as home invaders the only difference being home invader's usually don't shoot the dog. So your damned if do and your damned if you don't.

That video is sickening and disturbing. WTF is up with night time no-knock raids, and why do we tolerate them, legally?

Because they keep you safe, citizen.

Because society tries to justify it, saying it's for the greater good or for a particular group you're not a part of. And then when they bust the wrong house and put a bullet in your shoulder, you question why it was made in the first place.

If someone assaults you and loses, they still assaulted you. If they swing and miss, it's still assault. He didn't need to go to the hospital & they didn't get anything; sounds like he won to me.

Given the side of town this was on, I'd give even odds the homeowner was using the only weapon he's legally allowed to have. Well, better than even odds, really.

Is it too soon to talk about sword control?

Alternate universe version:
Knock on door. "Police, we have a warrant, open the door!"
Opens door, it's actually police.
Is instantly shot to death because he has a pointy bit of metal.
Everyone blames the homeowner and applauds the cops for slaughtering him in his own home. And then calls for the banning of sword ownership.
