Oh boy, this shiat again:

It has militarized my life; all that locking and loading and watching over my shoulder makes me feel like a bit player in the perpetual global war in which we find ourselves. There's no denying that carrying a gun has made my days a lot more dramatic. Suddenly, I'm dangerous. I'm an action figure. I bear a lethal secret into every social encounter.

This shiat is embarrassing to actual responsible gun owners everywhere.

Without even checking the date, I knew that this was old. Concealed carry is legal in Wisconsin now and the 7th Circuit just said that Illinois' blanket ban on both concealed and open carry was unconstitutional.

Carrying a gun gives you a sense of guardianship, even a kind of moral superiority. You are the vigilant one, the sheepdog watching the flock, the coiled wrath of God.

An interesting and nuanced fact-based article that makes gun owners sound like farking nutjobs.

It's like a litany of all the reasons why someone should never carry. If you feel any one of the following: you're in a war, you're dangerous, you're an action figure or the bearer of a lethal secret you have absolutely no business carrying a gun. This article runs the gamut from cringe-worthy to nauseating.

This lib here has no problem with a trained individual carrying a legally-obtained and licensed concealed handgun.

What I don't care for is One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest walking around with a rocket launcher, and a fairly strong political organization that champions them doing so.

The classes I took taught me almost nothing about how to defend myself with a gun. One, taught by a man who said he refuses to get a carry permit because "I don't think I have to get the government's permission to exercise my right to bear arms," packed about twenty minutes of useful instruction into four long evenings of platitudes, Obama jokes, and belligerent posturing. "The way crime is simply out of control, you can't afford not to wear a gun all the time," he told us on several occasions.

You got screwed, dude. I had 8 full hours, taught by the editor in chief of SWAT magazine, and his son, a Sheriff's deputy. We went over everything. When it was legal to draw, when it wasn't, what to do if you end up in a situation where you need to draw your gun, how to avoid them. We covered how to draw, had to fire from multiple zones on the gun range, got to ask all of the questions we wanted, and heard stories about gun safety, as well as accidents that arise when you don't properly safe your gun before things like cleaning. No wasted time, no political crap, we studied different types of holsters, talked about the guns we planned to carry, the pros and cons of each, and the practicality of carrying them vs keeping them in the home. It's some of the most educational 8 hours I've ever experienced, and it was done by professionals who carried themselves AS professionals. Any opinions offered were in relation to the material at hand, not about whether or not one politician is going to be more gun-grabby than the next.

Oh, and since I can't stand Bush or any of the new breed of Republicans, apparently I'm a "liberal" as well...

Considering the first time he references his pistol, it's like this:

I strap on my .38

Then, explains the start of his love for firearms like this:

I got hooked on guns forty-nine years ago as a fat kid at summer camp

But for the gun WHAARGARBL crowd, they might want to look elsewhere for a liberal hero:

For as long as I've been voting, I've reflexively supported waiting periods, background checks, the assault-rifle ban, and other gun-control measures.

Human emotion is all over the place on normal days let alone when grieving. CSB: was crying at my mother's funeral, a neighbor tell me a dirty joke and I laughed so hard I almost passed out.

I am not going to go into any advocacy one way or the other, status quo is here to stay anyway, but given the amount of time:

1) People talk about guns on Facebook
2) People spend shopping for guns
3) People spend using guns at the range
4) People spend whining in forums about how Obummer is coming for their guns
5) People spend in gun safety courses
6) People spend cleaning their guns

We probably as a species could have done something pretty awesome by now if we got those hours back. I don't know, maybe traveled to Mars by now. Cured cancer. Found out why New Jersey is such a shiathole and then found a way to detach it from the continental U.S.

Yeah, I know, I know, why are your hobbies so great? Because my hobbies aren't ever misused to end human life. Just sayin... carry on.

Liberals are just false flag operators. They kill people with the hope that the government will take away their guns. (See "The Life of David Gale".) I guess Rushbo was too sedated with pain meds to connect the dots to alleviate the cognitive dissonance.

Oh, the old and tired 'Why did they invent a nicer TV when they could have cured cancer?' debate. It's a classic. Also totally irrelevant, and seemingly has no place in this conversation, except in a 'I just stopped by, not to add anything meaningful, but to insult you.' kind of vibe.

It's not guns that have stifled great achievements in this world, it's religion and all the prejudices and superstitions that come along with it.

I think Utah's doesn't even require live fire anymore. The guys I took my class from said that it was the point where they weeded out the people who didn't know which end to point at the target. They took the whole thing seriously the whole 8 hours. Nicest part is that we got a group class, nobody else, me, my brother in law, my sister in law, her husband, as well as my father in law, and that was it.

Robust mental health care and regular screenings plus complete background. Plus, adopt the gun control policies of the Swiss. Problem solved. Only criminals and the criminally insane will lose their stupidly easy access to guns. Responsible, law-abiding citizens can very well be held responsible for allowing their guns to fall into the hands of criminals. Ban high capacity detachable magazines except under very strict exemptions and regulations.

Now we just need to put it all down on paper and pay for it. Can anyone here read Swiss?

Apparently some people listening to NPR's coverage of the whole thing got 'offended' when one of the people they were talking to said people liked to own that rifle because "It was cool thing". They were all like "HOW DARE YOU MISCHARATERIZE GUN OWNERS" and such.

... seeing their own *ADVERTISING* is trying to sell it as a 'cool' thing...

This lib gun owner doesn't have a problem with it from a legal standpoint, however I reserve the right to laugh at someone who feels the need to literally carry a loaded weapon on their person in their day to day lives.
