Rich Cream: Well, what did Manasseh-Invictus Auric Thutmose I through IV have to say about it?

Yeah. Wouldn't it create a potential for identity theft?

That sounds like a name from Key and Peele's East vs West Football skit.

The decision also states tht due to Jaynes' history of using aliases, concealing his identity and eluding criminal prosecution, "an allowance of the Petitioner's change of name petition jeopardizes public safety."

Translation: We'd probably fluck up the paper work and end up letting him out.

See? You use fake ID's just a couple of times, and all of a sudden it's not okay to change your name to  Manasseh-Invictus Auric Thutmose V.  What a world!

"I want to change my name. I'm tired of being made fun of!"

"What's your name?"

"Marvin Gobblecock"

"Oh, man, that is bad. What do you want to change it to?"

"John Gobblecock!"

Yeah, don't want him using aliases while serving life without parole. He might fool the guards into releasing him.

A couple of the History texts on my shelf actually spun as I was reading that...scary.

o'really: I wonder if he converted to wiccanism before or after rapin n murderin the little boy?

It was murder first, then rape.  They wanted rape first but the boy was too much trouble.

Manasseh - King of Judah from the Old Testament (2 Kings 21: 1-18) who reinstated pagan worship and killed the prophet Isaiah, although he later repented.

Invictus - Latin for "unconquered", I really don't know what it means here. Maybe a reference to the pagan-worshiping Manasseh before he repented his idolatry? There's also the Roman cult of Sol Invictus, the Sun Unconquered, which was founded fourth century AD (roughly). Supposedly their winter solstice festival is (one of) the holiday(s) the church stole to base Christmas on. Also that Morgan Freeman/Matt Damon movie about South African rugby and apartheid ending.

Auric - Latin for "gold-like" more or less, hard telling what this is about. The Aurelian family of ancient Rome (Aurelian, emperor, 270 AD - 275 AD) elevated the cult of Sol Invictus to new heights. For a long time in bullshiat alchemy theories, each precious metal had a corresponding celestial body whose rays deposited it on the earth, and gold was from the sun.

Auric the Conqueror was a minor character in the Power Rangers and Auric Goldfinger was a Bond villain in the eponymous movie. In the Marvel universe there was a Chinese mutant who joined the B-squad of a Canadian Avengers ripoff (basically, the jockwashers of the junior varsity) named Auric. Finally, Georges Auric was a 20th century French avant-garde composer who wrote the theme to Moulin Rouge in the 1930s - kind of a trailblazer in modern cinema composing. I'm guessing this guy is talking about gold, but I wouldn't rule out Bond villain

Thutmose - translated roughly as "Born of the god Thoth" - Thoth was the ibis-headed one who judged the dead (among other duties), and was analogized by the Greeks to Hermes. Thutmose is an Egyptian name (obvs) which applies to four pharaohs of the 18th dynasty (ca. 1550-1292 B.C.) This is the famous part of Egyptian history, featuring King Tut, Queen Nefertiti, Amenhotep, and is generally considered the beginning of the "New Kingdom" era. Not pyramid builders, these guys were all parked in the Valley of the Kings, but they kicked a lot of ass, expanding Egyptian borders all the way up to Turkey and down to Ethiopia along the Red Sea and the Med.

So yeah, a lot of crazy in a small package, apparently. I think you could roughly translate this as "Undefeated King Goldthotson the Fifth" though.
