Our school gym is used as a polling place for local elections, so I have actually seen some pretty... curious... people walk in.

There are plenty of places to get beer... a middle school gym class is not one of them... a bar is... it's a tough distinction.

The bitty little town I live in used to use the school gym. People were scuffing up the floor, so they use the church now. It's a farming community. I don't think we've ever had anyone ask for libations at either of the polling sites.

Most voting goes about 50/50 between the two parties up to the state level... if it matters.

See, that's the problem with the whole idea that guns are tools. If guns are tools then they aren't play things. I don't think anyone gets a few beers in them and decides to go out to the shed to "rip a few boards off the circular saw" or to the backyard "sledge a few bricks with a sledgehammer" or "punch a few sheets of stainless with the compressed air hole punch in the garage" for fun.

Going in the backyard to practice aiming, or to cut a few seconds off of a shoot-and-reload action, I have no problem with. That's practicing a skill. But if your culture circles around getting a few beers and YEE-HAWWING bunch of rounds off, well, that's not a tool. That's a toy. And you are just part of the image problem you have in trying to convince "those gun-grabbers" that gun owners are responsible.

It is pretty easy to score drugs at school, but beer is usually hard to come by. As for food, I miss the chorizos, but not the rectangular "pizza".

I had a theology teacher in highschool that kept a cooler under his desk and his mood would improve dramatically throughout the day. Sometimes he would kick the cooler and we would hear it's contents rattle.

The country needs Obama to send a bill to Congress to fix this problem,. Calling for 'meaningful action' is not enough. We need immediate action. We have heard all the rhetoric before. What we have not seen is leadership - not from the White House and not from Congress. That must end today. This is a national tragedy and it demands a national response.
 
With all the carnage from sniper tattoos in our country, it's still almost impossible to believe that a guy looking for beer in a middle school gym class could happen. It has come to that. Not even middle schoolers learning how to "accidentally" kick each other in the 'nads during a soccer game are safe.

I live in Gainesville where this happened, and a good friend of mine's daughter goes to this school. People are freaking out

I grew up in CT playing in the woods and farmers fields. Spent a lot of time in the woods of VT too. Hunting, fishing, shooting clays, all the good stuff.

Not all yankees are from "the city". There are actually lots of areas of New England that arent "city". I know, that goes against what pappy told you. Try leaving the holler for once...

There are a lot of flaws in your reply, but I'd like to point out the most fundamental of them. You're very presumptuous. Nearly all of what I said was tongue in cheek, but since you're one that's so easy to be butthurt, you didn't grasp that.

The only firearm related accident I've ever had was a slide bite and that was only once -- it doesn't take a second time to learn not to hold a grip high. So yeah, take that awesome confidence and foresight of yours and put it to good use in your ass :)
