And nobody really has anything to say on the matter.

"I'd rather people come to this site because they're looking for some humorous pieces to laugh at... not some girl with a nice rack"

why, that's the only way to get people in your site, son... ya ever heard of fark.com?

What the hell is this guy saying about the ads on his site? I went to his page, got a splash screen, then got a full page ad, then finally onto the main page which is stuffed with ads anyway.

2003-12-09 01:18:59 PM
Hey this has more cred than savekaryn.com...better to donate to someones dreams than to pay some dizzy beetchs credit card indulgences...

" I've always tried to keep the advertising unobtrusive as possible so you can enjoy reading the content here on I-Mockery. "

I dunno about that after running the guantlet of ads and redirect timers on the index of the site....

2003-12-09 01:23:30 PM
Have you thought of maybe selling DVDs in advance for the movie, to be delivered when and if the film is finished?

2003-12-09 01:24:27 PM
Love to donate for a good zombie flick, but I'm poorer than Gary Coleman.

2003-12-09 01:28:24 PM
Yeah, I had to check out the main page to see if he really had all the advertising a few of you were talking about...

...and holy shiat. What is up with the obtrusive intro advertisment? You know, that pops up before you can even see the main page? That makes fark seem almost advertisment free.

2003-12-09 01:29:13 PM
He should try selling drugs, I hear its a good steady job.

Finally, I-Mockery tries something that X-Entertainment didn't already do better three years ago!

2003-12-09 01:31:26 PM
Already did.

For every 0 dollars you get, I'll match it. And I get an "Executive Producer" credit. Love it or leave it, baby.

I totally support this endeavor on principle, but the dude has got to start answering his email. He seems a little disorganized.

"Horror movie" and "Comedy" just do not go together. They are polar opposites. For instance, the "Scary Movie" series was not scary and sometimes not even funny. The only person to ever pull it off would probably be Peter Jackson's film "Dead Alive". It was a tense at times and funny to boot.

Post the script so we can judge whether it's worth our money.

I was glad to throw Rob some cash. I am forever thankful for the cool I-Mockey pack he sent me a few months ago. Good luck, mister.

Most horror movies are comedies, just not intentionally. But horror-comedy is a perfectly noble genre.

No such thing as a bad zombie movie. Even the bad ones are good.

2003-12-09 04:29:22 PM
I am fabulously wealthy and would actually throw money this guy's way, but he's gotta do a better job getting investors than this. You got a prospectus, boy? Can I, as a potential investor, please read the script?

You can't get a prospectus because he's not looking for investors. He's looking for Friends of the Film donors.

You're not making a profit; you're contributing to a cause.

I can write a sound track. But I need my low low price computer wages to pay my bills.

Random Axe, yep that's pretty much it in a nutshell. If an investor wants to pitch in more than the average joe would, that's great, but I'm not letting the script get leaked out or anything until the film goes into production. Just like it says, people who donate will be listed in the credits of the film (if they don't want their real names in there, they can choose an alias or whatever). Then, once it's all done and we have DVD's, hopefully we'll be able to give out free ones or at least discounted ones to anybody who did contribute.

Didn't Drew say he'd die in the movie if it ever goes through

Zoobtro, yeppers and I look forward to killing his farking ass in our zombie flick. Big thanks to Drew for helping get the word out about this too.

Anyway, thanks to those of you who've helped out so far and/or sent in supportive emails. I'm currently working a full-time job, taking classes on the side, and writing new material for I-Mockery... so please excuse any delayed responses. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Btw, I-Mockery - good luck. Seriously.

I tried something similar in a classified ad on here a while back for the 40-minute film I'm trying to get made (called "Unsealed").

Unfortunately, it didn't work all that well. I'm regrouping and getting things ready to try again.

It's a good cause, people.

Zombie movies have a long and noble heritage, going well beyond such luminaries as Steckler, Romero, Fulci, Lenzi, Raimi, O'Bannon, Wiederhorn, Jackson, Takeuchi, Kitamura, and recently Boyle.

There've been plenty of missteps and mistakes, but it's as strong a genre as noir, in its way, and the biggest problem with the genre (as with any) is that far too many of the related films are made without wit. If you've been to I-Mockery.com, then you know that this is not a stupid guy.

So I have hopes for this movie. And I want to see it made. And you should, too.

Good God, before spending $75,000 on a film, even if it isn't your own money, please PLEASE please go to at least six months of a film school, and make a few shorts. making a feature with no or little experience is incredibly incredibly foolish. there is soooo much to film you can't possibly do on your own or learn from one of those books, with or without $75k. i'm a film student myself, in the middle of a production. it's a 5 minute short, and you wouldn't believe how much has to go into making a succesful short film. multiply that by 20, and you've got a passable film...but if your looking to springboard that into a career....yeesh. please, don't contribute $75k to the blackhole of 'suck' that is most independent film.

2003-12-10 12:21:10 AM
That gets me pretty excited, I have done a couple shorts for Toadsoup and I really enjoy it.

Also keep in mind I-mock that El Mariachi was made for $7,000

2003-12-10 12:47:42 AM
I agree that it's better to think Small But Good and budget for half your budget. That way, you won't go over by as much.

Film experience is good, and I'm not knocking film school, but . . . 90% or more of what comes out of the big studios is crap, and probably 75% of independent films are crap. There are no guarantees.

I'd rather watch Evil Dead six times than see Eyes Wide Shut again, or, god knows, either Armageddon or Deep Impact, to pick a pair of bookends. Of course, Raimi had quite a bit of experience, but you know what I mean.

$75k is a big budget for an amateur film, but I-Mockery is looking for a lot of small donations, in sort of a grass-roots funding move, and at worst it'll be an interesting experiment.

If the writing is good and the camerawork and editing are halfway decent, it won't suck. I feel pretty confident about that.

2003-12-10 01:04:59 AM
If you (I-mock) made a short film first, then I would definatly consider donating. I don't want to give to something that could suck =P

So if you have skills as an artist and determination the cash will come

2003-12-10 01:32:11 AM
Heh, believe me, I intend to film at least several short films before I try to tackle the big project.

Also keep in mind I-mock that El Mariachi was made for $7,000

Aye, but El Mariachi didn't have scenes with hundreds upon hundreds of zombies. And no, not zombies that look like people who smeared themselves with shoe polish... I'm talking quality zombies here.

Interesting indeed. At worst, I won't raise the full $50-75k and I'll just film a zombie flick with a lower-budget instead. I've just really got my heart set on doing this one script in particular, so hopefully it'll all work out in the end.
