I shiat you not, I lived in KY until I was 14, then moved to FL. Picked up smoking when I was 18, and only recently quit.
I have no idea why, but any time I went swimming I wanted a smoke and a beer. I mastered the art of keeping a cig dry in a pool quickly.
It's just the Kentucky in me.

My mom had a Kentucky Racing Commission ring that had been passed down, and my older brother once used it to get in to Millionaire's Row at the Derby for free.  He met Rick Pitino there IIRC, when Rick was the coach at Kentucky.
 
They later stopped accepting the ring, and it was sent somewhere else in the family.

I know my state is flawed (McConnel and Paul) but it has some really awesome parts to it as well. Red River Gorge, the lakes, Lexington and Louisville. Louisville has a food scene that exceeds that of DC and rivals that of NYC. The booze is super cheap and traffic is non-existent(you Louisvillians that biatch about it have no idea what you're talking about). The music scene can be embarassing when we can't sell out a Silversuns Pickup show, but our college sports scene is certainly rabid.

CSB: The poster at Cricket Press (4:06) is a Neko Case tour poster. I have an autographed copy hanging on my wall, she signed it for me at a concert in Lansing, MI. The dog in it is her greyhound (rescued racer) Lloyd. Sadly, Lloyd has passed on.

I less than three my adopted home state. Kentucky kicks ass.

We (and after 10 years, I hope I get to say 'we') are a bizarre state. We are southern, and northern, and midwestern. While we don't have oceans, we have a river that has meant as much or more to US history. We are blue in the cities and red in the boonies, and nice all over.

After having 4 'home towns' in my life, I hope Louisville is the last one. I plan on staying here as long as I'm able to.

I have lived all over the USA, but I have never felt more at peace and at home than here in Kentucky.

I've never cared about sports until I learned how bad Kentucky basketball sucks. C-A-R-D-S.

I've only loved one city before Louisville, and she was pale and tiny in comparison. (not that I don't still love Missoula, MT. Missoulians would love Louisville, if any are reading. Both are loving, living, cities. Come visit! If I could name a sister city in the US, Missoula and Louisville would be such devoted sisters...)

I've been to some of the USA's most amazing natural wonders, and I still get shivers about KY's Red River Gorge. Come visit.

Ahahahahah I've lived in Ky my entire life and I remember my grandma smoking in my aunts pool and I've smoked in a pool too so yes we're terrible hicks. Mmmm I love Laurel Lake,Woods Creek Lake and the Cumberland Falls. Just beautiful scenery. Most of the time nice people,everybody can be grouchy sometimes. Lol I couldn't go christmas shopping at the flea market cause it's been shutdown due to counterfeit merchandise.

I love Lexington and this is my 20th year living here. It's like one big family ... or maybe it actually is. There arent that many branches on this family tree.
