And you know what makes Jamie Foxx's joke about killing white people acceptable and maybe funny? Articles like this that preach irrational fear that black people are out for revenge against white people. It plays on that irrational fear, and most white people are rational people and understand this. So for those of you white people that are complaining about there being no uproar about what Jamie Foxx said, it is because most other white people are pointing and laughing at you and your irrational fears.

I think the difference is that black people spent centuries being told they shouldn't like being black and that it made them lesser. Kind of like gay pride versus straight pride, or women's pride, etc.
 
If your entire race is denigrated in your own country and you finally have the guts to say, "No. I'm not ashamed. I'm happy with me.", that isn't racist. It's not inherently racist to proclaim that you like being white either, but it's certainly odd and has no similar context.

So, it's come to this. Conservatives are actually whining about a movie where a slave kills slave traders.

Old conservative white guys sure are a bunch of easily frightened little biatches. No wonder they buy all those guns.

I didn't boycott Thor, but Ithought it was a dumb choice. Guy did a good job, but it was a bit jarring to see a black dude running around in the home of Norse gods.

Oh come on. The Norse mythology in the Marvel Universe is all over the map. A frost giant named Laufey. That one makes a lot of sense.

Laufey (to a kid reading comics) sounds like Loki.

I realize we are talking about Marvel comics here, not some great work of literature, but throwing a black guy in asgaard was a departure that served no purpose. I can just see some movie exec thinking they need a black character and tossing him in.

What I find is funny is that people complained about a black person playing Asgaard and you saying it doesn't make sense to throw a black person into Norse mythology even if it is the Marvel version, but you don't bat an eye at an Asian person being thrown in with Hogun.

Regardless of who is or is not freaking out over this, I saw the previews for this movie and I'm most assuredly going to see it

They re-made it in 2010. I didn't bother to see it because I figure "you've seen one incredibly uncomfortable rape movie, you've seen them all". And the original was enough for me.

Local morning radio show made a good point. Don't go see this at a Magic Johnson Theater.

I don't know what you're talking about, Tarantino's last movie was about some Jews killing a whole bunch of Germans, and people loved it. I'm sure people would love a movie just as much about a bunch of Germans killing a whole bunch of Jews, right?
