Christmas tree breaks through roof of man's house, but not really

I think the article's headline made me laugh harder than the actual picture for some odd reason.

With the wind we've been having lately, it'd need to be nailed to the treetop to stay in the county...

My uncle cut off the farkin' top of his substantially overly tall Christmas tree one year. Huge diameter bottom to top. It looked so odd.

Costello: I brought our Christmas tree home today. It was huge!

Abbott: A great big tree, eh?

C: HUGE! It was so big it was 6 feet too tall for the living room.

A: It's a shame to have to cut a great big tree like that to fit.

C: I know... That's why I cut a hole in the ceiling!

A: What? You did what?

C: Now we're the only house on the block with a Christmas tree in the bathroom.

A: Get him outta here!

/been listening to a lot of old time radio lately

He and a buddy bolted it down. Pretty awesome idea. I hope his neighbors don't go all HOA about it.

Cave Johnson here. I came into this thread hoping for an Aperture Science reference, and by Jovian moon ejecta, you delivered. Why Jovian moon ejecta? Funny you should ask. The lab boys are working on that as we speak. The important thing: initiative: You've got it, and I like that. Fact is, we could use some more of that around here. Caroline, make a note: From now on, all employees are to be instructed to be twice as initiative-taking as before, during the Scheduled Daily Spontaneity Moments. What? Sure, the robot employees too; just crank up those initiative settings; I don't see why not.

/don't mind me, up for a bit in middle of the night with a headache/cold, and in a silly/dumb mood while I wait for the sinus meds to take effect

We have the top of our tree on the floor in the attic.

its not set up or anything, but it is kinda right above where the bottom is set up down stairs, so we can pretend.

This is actually what I was expecting they would do, only with the bottom section going to the roof and hitting an orange portal, and having the 4-5' section coming down from the blue portal about 6' to the side of the other portal.

Did that a couple of years ago. I have a flat roof though, so it was easy to take the top 3 feet and position it above the rest of the tree. The lights worked great but the star kept falling off. My daughter loved it, the neighbors not so much.
