I am so proud to be an American right now.

Only in America would people witness a horrific school shooting with dead children, then go on a run and buy every assault rifle (which have no purpose except to either kill people, or be a 'penis extender') they can get their hands on.

\I don't get gun people. I can barely tell the difference between a water pistol and an AK though.

MBZ321: I don't get gun people. I can barely tell the difference between a water pistol and an AK though.

Here it is in a nutshell: gun nuts view the Second Amendment in the same way that the libbest libs view the First Amendment. In their eyes, owning a gun = exercising a right. And they like to exercise those rights just as much as any sign-waving protester likes to exercise their freedom of speech. Likewise, they enjoy limiting gun rights just as much as libs enjoy limiting free speech.

So there it is, short and sweet. For gun nuts value having guns like progressives value free speech.

Even the libbiest lib knows and accepts that there are some reasonable restrictions on free speech. I'm not sure a lot of gun nuts would agree when it comes to the second amendment.

Also, words aren't lethal. Guns exist to put holes in people. The two rights aren't particularly equivalent.

Not exactly equal, but clearly the "Founding Fathers" felt they were close in importance since they are the first 2 amendments, and they came way before the end of slavery and Women's suffrage.

I hope that everyone knows that any gun or ammo purchase made by credit card is tracked by the government which will allow for government seizure of those items.

Thank you for being the first I've seen to point this out, out of all the lines of truth AND trolling I have read.

Granted, words can be powerful - "fire" in a crowded theater, "you touched my daughter" as a malicious accusation, "pink slime" - but you can walk back from them.

That'd be 0 for most people, since automatic weapons are nearly impossible to find.

MilesTeg: Automatic weapons are illegal.

The main difference between the semiautomatic AR-15 "sports rifle" and full-auto M-16 military rifle is a tiny assembly of components just above the trigger in the lower assembly. The military components can be installed into the civilian AR-15.

Comparison of AR-15 / M-16 components

Crank cams install over the trigger of just about any semi-auto gun, and allow firing as fast as you can turn the crank. I assume spring wind-up trigger cams and compact battery-powered electric-motor trigger cams exist too.

Also, there is "bump auto-fire", which involves holding the gun loosely around the trigger, so that the gun kickback bounces the trigger under your finger. It's hard to do with handguns since one-handed loose holding makes the gun barrel ride upward easily.

(Nope, don't own any guns. But I hear enough about it elsewhere to know anyway.)

"We remain dedicated to the safe and responsible legal sale of firearms in areas of the country where they are sold," David Tovar, a spokesman for Wal-Mart, said yesterday.

Bullshiat "safe and responsible" sale. They agree in many cases the law doesn't go far enough yet they don't establish a company policy along those lines. Just because it's legal doesn't make it ethical.

2012-12-19 11:45:58 PM
In 2006, Wal-Mart reduced the number and variety of guns it offered in stores, and replaced them with more upscale products such as exercise equipment. It then reintroduced firearms to many stores in April 2011 as part of strategy to add merchandise back to shelves and revive sales growth at its Wal-Mart locations in the U.S.

Wal Mart's view on gun control: "Guns are more profitable per square foot than exercise equipment."

Illegal to sell to civilians now, unless you have an old tax stamp on an automatic weapon, which I am sure they're repaired often. Put a few videos up on YouTube and you'll have a rootin, shootin time with some random citizens firing an M2 Browning.

Such as this one, though I think a car that old deserves it!

I don't believe the founders knew what firearms would be available in 200 years, but they certainly knew what kinds of speech should be protected. Also, back in the day, people needed guns to get food. This isn't the case for most people. I'm not anti gun, but if a gun serves no practical use like food gathering, people shouldn't have them. You can use a shotgun for protection in your home.

Also, guns do kill people. But for the fact that these people had guns, these mass murders happen. A guy couldn't kill 26 students and teachers with a knife or a rope. It took a gun.

I would be more than happy to give up my right to bear arms, if and only if, the policing organizations in this country would give up theirs. I would even take the police not being able to use anything larger than a pistol.

I say this because I know the cops will never give up their SWAT teams, M4's, and Armored Personnel Carriers.

Again, you're wrong. Machine guns are legal in:

Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas - state registration required for pistol calibers over .30
California - permit required, better luck marrying a movie star
Colorado
Connecticut - full auto only, no select fire, state registration required
Florida
Georgia
Idaho
Indiana
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana - state application to transfer, and state registration required
Maine
Maryland - annual state registration required, $10 fee per year
Massachusetts - state license required
Michigan
Minnesota - registration required, C&R MG's only
Mississippi
Missouri - C&R MG's only
Montana
Nebraska
Nevada
New Hampshire
New Jersey - permit required from state court, better luck winning the lottery 10 times in a row
New Mexico
North Carolina - county permit required from the Sheriff
North Dakota - state registration required
Ohio
Oklahoma
Oregon
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Vermont
Virginia - state registration required
West Virginia
Wisconsin - permit required (county, or state?)
Wyoming

Uhh...no. Not permitted to possess = illegal.

Individuals in all those states can possess MGs. Some states require it to be registered with them in addition to the ATF. But as long as you can afford it and pass a pistol background check, you can buy a machine gun in one of those states.
