I'M RUINED!

I just love how the article is about why investment returns will be low for decades to come and then at the bottom of a page is an add for their "Supernova" stock picks which will give you a "98.79% Chance at Beating the Market".

For just three easy payments of $19.95 I'll send you a copy of my patented TOP SECRET method to determine for yourself why there is such a discrepancy between message and advertising. Void where prohibited, results not typical of normal investment experience. If you lose all your money and end up in a Mississippi leper colony beating back wave after wave of termites with your burning laundry we reserve the right to put the video of your humiliating experience on the internet for others to laugh at at our profit.

So this's what, the fourth or fifth "GUARANTEED STRATEGY" that the Motley Fool's hyping as a "SUREFIRE MARKET BEATER?" I still remember what I think was there first one, the "Foolish Four." They got that from back-testing; it didn't hold up going forward.

Now, they've come up with a new plan . . . that they also got from back-testing market strategies. That right there tells you everything you need to know.

Seriously, no.

A dartboard is a better investment advisor than those breathless punks at Motley Fool.

"We arrived at these odds from 10,000 random back-tested portfolios"

WTF does that even mean?

It means Barnum was right.

Wow, what a detailed interview. Now i see and understand the assumptions that went into that "expert's" view that returns will be low for 10-20 years!!

There are only three $NUMBERs in the universe: "one", "3", or "5".
Once every hour, select a random $TICKER from amongst the top $NUMBER intraday gainers/losers.
After the close, select a random $NUMBER of $TICKERs from whatever articles have gotten the most hits today.
Once a week, select a random fund $MANAGER (about 1/3 of the time, prepend the string "Billionaire" to the $MANAGER's name), and select $NUMBER random $TICKERs from $MANAGER's top holdings.
Once a day, pick a random $SECTOR from the S&P industry sectors, and select $NUMBER random $TICKERs from within that sector.
Look up the $COMPANY name that corresponds to $TICKER.
Time $PERIOD can be "today", "this week" or the 4-digit form of the current year.

Flip a coin for $POSITION ("long" or "short")
Flip a coin for $ACTION ("buy" or "sell", but 1/4 of the time, generate the string "buy or sell").
There are only two $MOVERs, "winner" or "loser".

Select a headline from the following set of templates:

What $MANAGER is $ACTIONing this week
$NUMBER Superball stocks
$NAME is $POSITION on these stocks
Will $COMPANY help you retire rich?
$NUMBER stocks stopped the presses this week
Is $COMPANY destined for greatness?
Is $COMPANY still a $ACTION?
What happened to my stock? Why $NAME just plunged
Why $NAME shares soared
$NUMBER of last week's biggest $MOVERs
Are the $POSITIONs right on these $SECTOR stocks
Why $COMPANY is ready to bounce back
Top $NUMBER $SECTOR stocks of $PERIOD
$NUMBER $SECTOR stocks that had a great $PERIOD
Why $COMPANY become the perfect stock?
Can $COMPANY maintain its growth?
$NUMBER catalysts $SECTOR investors need to watch

tl;dr: "Spike, write a script."

Dear Motley Fool,

Go away, Motley Fool, or I shall replace you with a very small shell script.

Your bemused student,
Sweetie Bot.

Kinda what i have been expecting with the boomers cashing out over the next decade or two. My only home is the gen y and milenial go into a buying frenzy the decade before i retire and we see growth similar to the boomer buying frenzy of the 80's
