Citrate1007: Conservative logic:

If it doesn't directly affect them it is an entitlement by a moocher.
If it affects them then it is their god given right and the government should be giving more to them more efficiently.

/what a wonderful way to indoctrinate your children into your world of derp.

So teaching my kids to work and not to depend on government for every little thing in their life, making them take responsibilty for their actions and not blaming someone else for it is, or be a victim is derp?

Teaching your kids that they are owed something by simply exisiting and that the government will provide it is a lot more derpy.

The idea that the Freeloading 47% get an equal vote in this country is just beyond ridiculous. If you make a choice not to contribute to society, then you don't get a vote in that society.

Then what I save in rent will be directly spent for transportation since I can walk to everything in town, same with the electric company since they recently raised their rates but are the cheaper than the company that services places out of town. You can go strangle yourself in a closet with your bootstraps.

Remember when Florida decided to drug test all their welfare recipients, and the testing program ended up costing more than the little money saved by kicking the tiny fraction of people off of welfare who tested positive?

That empirical study in the rate of drug use among welfare recipients could inform your view of welfare beneficiaries.

Or, you can just keep parroting talking points.

I know, right.  I came here to point that the spoof missed the point of what entitlements are.  (The vast majority of entitlements are subsidies to people in various industries, which ostensibly is to help working-class individuals, but often goes right into the pockets of megacorporations.  All the while upsetting prices of commodities and artificially marginalizing competing products.)  But it seems that that is too advanced for today's crowd.  We need to focus on the basics, like, "That commercial was a joke".

My critical thinking teacher, who is an admitted member of the socialist party said the same thing. I took the class way back in 2004 before the word socialist became part of the daily conversation. But I suppose since he thinks that way, it doesnt make him a good socialist.

Social Security and Medicare are far and away the two biggest entitlements. I suppose you can say Medicare goes to pockets of medical megacorporations. Of course, in the process it gives millions of people decent health care. Other entitlements include food stamps, Medicaid, and TANF.

Which of these are you talking about? Or if it's not one of these, please specify what entitlements you're referring to.

Yeah, reducing entitlements is like lowering the balance on your bank account.  That's why you're "entitled" to it.  You'd think Republicans would find that worse than taxes.

I don't know where they get off calling this an "entitlement" you farking pay for it your whole working life, so it's not like foodstamps/welfare/medicaid.

The sad thing is that we'll probably never see a cent of it.

And how about a vulture capitalist edition?  There aren't any bad squares on that one "IRS informant turned you in for your Swiss account, so you have to go for the amnesty" is as bad as it gets.

It's a joke video.  It's a video mocking what Republicans think about Romney's 47% in the form of Monopoly.  Go to Jail is now Go to Work.

... and also "double your tax rates". Gotta love a party that wants a guy who does roof repairs for a living to pay a higher tax rate than the millionare whose accusing him of being undocumented and lazy.

I meant entitlements by number, not by dollar.  There are hundreds of entitlement programs in agriculture and other industries like construction.  At least to me, these are the bad entitlements because they are subject to so much abuse.  The fewer but bigger entitlements in social services aren't as bad.

It is astounding how few people understand that when Republicans talk about cutting entitlements, that means they want cuts to Social Security and Medicare. They've somehow been convinced that food stamps and TANF are the only "entitlements," and that we can realistically balance the budget just by kicking all the "attractive and successful African Americans" off of them.

No grip on reality. None.

I see. Well, for what it's worth, sometimes those subsidies serve legitimate social purposes. Conservatives are fond of the old "why are we paying farmers to leave their fields fallow" saw. But that program exists or did exist (I don't know if it's still around) to serve real economic and ecological purposes. Not all government subsidies are bad.
