Guess the Marines aren't that tough if they can yield to a couple small groups protesting.

Yeah, because a gay marine almost never happens.

There are some really, really hot Ultimate Fighting guys.  Why are some gay groups against the sport?  These guys deserve to be objectified along with everyone else.

Especially when they decided the wear the form-fitting shorts instead of the looser variety.

Has everyone forgotten the gay porn scandal at Camp Pendleton in 1993? Over 500 Marines were involved and the Corps tried to cover it up. The Corps has always had its fair share of meaty boys doing with meaty boys.

The Marine Corps recruiting office has ended its controversial sponsorship of Ultimate Fighting Championship events after a petition campaign protested behavior by some of the sport's participants as sexist and pro-violence

Are the campaign protesters going after th NFL, MLB, etc. sponsors as well.

disgraceful idiocy. MMA fighters r just athletes, n they're all human beings...from every demographic. ok, clearly we should ban every possible field of human endeavor wherein someone might express something offensive to someone else.

btw, MMA is deliciously n delectably homoerotic, homothanatic, and homothanaterotic.

amongst my fellows queers, hatred of MMA is usually an easy way to id pussies. beef, not tuna!

Because most gay groups aren't single purpose groups focused on the rights of gays.  They insist on meddling in all sorts of things that are irrelevant  to the cause of gays in this country.

This whole thing has gotten way out of hand.

Some union is pissed that the guys who own the UFC won't unionize some casinos, so they go on a full on war about an entire sport, not just the UFC. Their attempts to keep pro MMA illegal in New York is probably the scummiest move they've pulled, since that just keeps the sport underground and dangerously unregulated there.

Well, you know how it is. The Marines can't afford to be associated with violence.

2012-12-19 01:04:29 PM
Wait, wait, wait. If I understand this correctly, people are protesting the Marines getting involved with something that is seen as promoting violence?

Do these people understand what the military is FOR?!? It's not back rubs. (Unfortunately).

UFC is essentially softcore gay porn. They used to have it on the TV at the gay bar sometimes.

Yeah the marines are pulling sponsorships all over the place (including the NFL). They are restructuring and pulling back on the marketing for budget reasons.

The culinary union who are very anti UFC are the ones trying to spin this, you won't be hearing that from the marines.

I'd hate to see hardcore gay porn then. There must be body parts everywhere. Never knew the gays were so into violence.

From a previous article linked to by TFA:
"We believe the homophobic and sexist statements of people associated with the UFC are deeply at odds with the values of the Marine Corps and conflict with the Defense Department's stated commitment to tolerance and respect for diversity,"

I can totally believe that UFC fighters drop a lot of F-bombs.  And since UFC has control over what its performers do while representing it, they are responsible for telling them what is appropriate or not.  So if someone wants them to stop the F-bombs, they have to convince the UFC to make them stop.  And the easiest way to do this is to go after advertisers.

I actually think this is exactly how the system should work.  You get to say whatever.  People get to sponsor you while you say it.  If people don't like it, they can protest or stop buying the sponsored stuff.  Then your sponsors and you get to choose if it's worth it to keep saying whatever.

Marine Corps isnt about gay sex. And most Marines are not gay. When I was in we went out and blew shiat up and shot things and learned survival and joint warfare tactics on, and when we had time off we hit the cities, bars, clubs and picked up women or if we were unlucky that night we hit the whore houses in Tijuana.

Its sad to see a push from the gay agenda side to turn the image of our military into that of some prissy left wingers in uniform, holding hands and passing out blow jobs.

I think its safe to say our society has gone insane. But if you open a history book you will see the same thing happened to Rome before it faded away.

I think the point is that most men are not gay. But some Marines are gay. It shouldn't make a difference to anyone. Let a Marine or Soldier or Sailor or Airman park his cock wherever he chooses. As long as he is doing his duty to the best of his ability is all any of us should ask of him. And as a corollary to this, any Marine who would persecute another for being gay should be eliminated from the Corps.

The sexism angle is hard to argue with. It's stupid for them to have ring girls. Boxing has ring girls, but boxing is a sport that's dying along with its fans, a generation that didn't grow up understanding that ring girls were demeaning. MMA is a new sport and should do better if it aspires to legitimacy. Sure, your fan base is heavily douchey at the moment, but don't lock that in forever by institutionalizing the douchiness.
