Song's been out for almost three months now, it got as high as #2 on the Hot 100 chart (not that anyone on Fark listens to most of that but still).  Token gesture is token.

This reminds me of after 9/11 when Clear Channel pulled damn near every artist who wasn't Lee Greenwood. It's dumb and it helps nobody except a few radio execs feel good about themselves.

What made no sense was that John Lennon's "Imagine" was on that list, and I don't think I've heard it played on the radio in the last decade.

We had that added back into our play list two weeks ago before it was taken out again. Yanked the first time because of the Aurora shooting, yanked this time because of Sandy Hook.

If people effected by the tragedy directly hear messages of sympathy and support, you think it does no good? Because I doubt the jokes would help them at all. Quite the contrary.

FTFA:

At the time of Friday's tragedy, Die Young was reaching about 167 million American radio listeners, TMZ reported. By Monday, that figure had dropped by at least 19 million - "plummeting", according to the New York Post. TMZ claimed it to be the fastest drop in popularity since the Dixie Chicks criticised (sp) George Bush at a London gig in 2003.

So, idiots.

Idiots listen to Top 40 and country radio.
