BigSnatch: Mark Ratner: SlothB77: at least put it in the trunk where it isn't visible to someone looking through the window.

My first thought, too, but I wonder if they use bomb/drug sniffing dogs. Nothing would surprise me anymore.

In the video, the reporter said that the shotgun and knife were in plain sight of the police officers as they swept the parking lot. She also said that the penalty for having weapons on school property is expulsion.

As much as I think discretion is important in these cases and expulsion is excessive, if you're on school property with those items, you'd better know school policy regarding those items.

IMO, the kid is just a dumbass. A couple days of ISS where he has to write an essay on responsible gun ownership would suffice as reasonable punishment.

There's a lengthy training period before you can even qualify to go to the ISS. Especially with the Russians controlling the access, I don't think it's possible to go for just a couple of days. That also seems like you're rewarding the kid for doing something that is fundamentally dumb.

I think it would be better just to suspend him and have him serve that suspension time in school.

Guys, we'd better extrapolate future events and overreact to every potential warning sign. It's for the children.

Phoenix87ta: hat's pretty horrifying. I don't even LIKE guns, and I know the safety rules for them. How does a cop not know these things?

Using a gun is part of a cops job, and therefore, they are horrible at it.

When I was in 10th grade I was in first period class and realized that I had 3 12 gauge shotgun shells in my pocket from waiting for a deer that morning at my place. I immediately went and discreetly told her my mistake. She nodded and I handed her the 3 shells where the other students could not see them. I went back to my desk. She left. About 5 minutes later I'm being taken out by the SRO and my vehicle is being searched. I ended up being suspended for 10 days from that stunt.

Look I get it, you gun lovers don't think twice about there being a gun in your car or ammo in your pocket. It's not a big deal to you. That is no longer how your country is going to be and you'd better adjust to it or you're going to get in legal trouble. The general public is not going to support you anymore.

It may shock you, but despite all the noise you make most Americans don't agree with you.

I 2nd this.

/Will keep and bear arms.

Well, I know your ability to use reason now. You are a stupid twat i will say, and that is all. I am sick. I don't have the energy to feed you troll. I am not a gun lover, and my prior CSB said nothing of the sort. Your mother is a whore.

bluefoxicy: A Shambling Mound: No one had a problem with my swords, though. Odd since they where so specifically designed to kill people you can't even use them for anything else.

People can't outrun bullets. I know, you can kill someone easier with a sword than a gun; doesn't matter, they're more afraid of guns and of magical perfect-aim crack shots that can land a shot in their skull from 500 feet away from a $40 Beretta with bullets they got at WalMart. The guy with a rifle he bought at K-Mart, hiding in a building down the street, sniping people off in the parking lot. No escape; only death awaits.

/80 rounds fired, 6 dead, 9 injured
//1 sword 1 swing 1 decapitation
///I've seen people girls take wild boar with quarterstaves, folks take deer with knives, and Pakistanis have hunting swords for taking game

Those were buck-and-a-quarter quarterstaves, but they're not telling you that.

HindiDiscoMonster: does anyone else feel like they are intentionally trying to dumb down the populous ... umm... more by expelling /suspending students willy-nilly for a more easily controlled populous?

Agreed 100%. Soon people won't even know the difference between "populous" and "populace."

Hunting all weekend, and now in the middle of the week the gun's still in the trunk?  Irresponsible gun ownership.  Take that biatch out and clean it!

In rural PA year 2000 we used to bring our rifles to school and clean them for hunting season. Hell we even loaded shot shells for duck hunting in shop.

Then planes hit a building and some douche threw a pipe bomb.

Now nail clippers are weapons.

WTF America. Pansies.

Just going to get worse from here on out, because liberals refuse to use common sense.

And yes, growing up in a rural town in the late 70's early 80s, during deer season there were plenty of rifles in gun racks in pickups. Weird how there was no problems, huh?

We're not in Mayberry anymore, Goober.

Disposable Rob: NRA stickers on your car don't say "Owner is armed, go to the next house", they say "Wait until I'm not home to steal all my guns".

It would be kind of funny to make up stickers that say that and paste them under the NRA stickers.

But on the other hand, I want to say "hey dumbshiat, if you can't put your gun up when you're done with it, maybe you shouldn't have one?"

My thoughts too. I think that the type of people who forget to take a shotgun out of their car at school are going to be the same people who forget to take their kids out of the car during the summer when they go to work...

Sybarite: It's funny but I was just talking to a friend last night who grew up in a very rural area and she was saying how many pickups in the parking lot would have guns in their racks during hunting season.

Must not have been that rural if they actually showed up to school during hunting season.

/I thought it was normal that schools made the first day of every hunting season (doe and buck) a vacation day.
