log_jammin: I'm officially old. I only recognized 3 names out of the 10 on the list.
Ishkur: And all three have careers that trace back to the 80s/90s.
thisispete: I know what you mean. If Soundgarden hadn't put out a new album this year, I don't think I would have bought any music in 2012.
SnakeLee: Jesus those are some overly harsh reviews...
thamike: Do people still get excited about album releases?
Hetfield: thamike: Do people still get excited about album releases?I do, sometimes. Really looking forward to the upcoming releases by Tomahawk and Tool.
fusillade762: We're old.
thamike: Yeah, but I'm talking about people who listen to sh*t music.
Ishkur: log_jammin: I'm officially old. I only recognized 3 names out of the 10 on the list. And all three have careers that trace back to the 80s/90s.
flamingboar: I didn't know Smashing Pumpkins had an album this year until I saw the list..
SwiftFox: This is insane. Everyone knows Santa can visit all those homes in one night because Rudolph generates a time-dilation field with his nostrils, and any light entering the region of his nose is drastically red-shifted.Obviously.Duh.
PonceAlyosha: I am surprised the Mumford and Sons album did not make that list.
Alphax: Eh, I'm bored, I'll check the article.I saw something on Lana Del Ray on Facebook recently.. hmm, cute pics, wonder what she sounds like.. but her Facebook page won't let me play videos without Likeing her first, which I found to be backwards. Let me know what she's like first.
yeah_so: What I find surprising is that they expected the Smashing Pumpkins album to be good? Or how bad does it have to be to be a disappointment? I haven't heard, I hope I never will. I suspect it to be terrible just like everything else since Gish.
plc5_250: I am disappointed that no Tween-Wave artists are on the list.Their music is really crappy!
Crudbucket: Nothing would make me happier than hearing a South African electro-rapper incorporate the sounds and tropes of his nation into a frenetic musical assault. I believe this was written without any sarcasm or irony, which makes it all the more amusing.
enderthexenocide: i haven't listened to any of the albums on that list so i can't judge. but the two biggest disappointments for me personally are the new albums by marilyn manson and all that remains. manson used to be one of my favorite artists, but his last two albums were both pretty dreadful, i was hoping this would be better but if anything it's worse. all that remains has always walked the line between legitimate hard rock and simple pop rock, but their last album was really solid, i expected this new one to be awesome, but i could barely listen to the whole thing it was so lame. both those albums just really let me down.there's a few other albums this year that were decent but nothing special, like the new ones by god forbid, high on fire, and in this moment. they're not bad, but i wanted them to be much better. the new dethklok album was also kind of a letdown. personally i think this year was pretty weak for hard rock and metal.
