I love maple syrup. I know everything there is to know about maple syrup. I like to take maple syrup and put a little bit in my hair when I've had a rough week. What do you think holds it up, slick?

"Quebec produces up to 80% of the world's maple syrup every year, and the province's syrup producers federation has managed the world's strategic reserves for the past 12 years"

I did not know the world had maple syrup strategic reserves.

"Police believe the suspects pumped the maple syrup into tanker trucks and drove away from the heavily secured location"

apparently not.

Obviously you've never seen what we Canadians consider "heavily secured location. It differs from the American definition.

What a bunch of saps.

2012-12-18 04:10:04 PM
So now that we've caught 'em, were they planning on selling it to the Glatun or the Horvath?

2012-12-18 04:10:15 PM
I guess Canada using a syrup backed currency was a bad idea, then?

From another article, they were quoted as saying it "had a fence, locks, and was visited on a regular basis".

As a Canadian, and a maple syrup lover, I'm getting a kick out of this.

The strategy is actually to keep the supply tight so prices stay high. They learned it from OPEC.

slayer199: Even the Canadian mega-heists are cute!

Heh...but if anyone's interested in other typical Canadian criminals, you should read up on the Stopwatch Gang. Very efficient - their heists took between 90 seconds and 2 minutes - and although they were armed, they were polite and never shot anybody (up until the last time anyway, although that wasn't a typical Stopwatch job). The ringleader even wrote a book about it, Jackrabbit Parole.

According to the CBC, two of them are in jail on unrelated charges, the third is now an accountant for Corrections Canada.

So are Vermont and New Hampshire a part of OMSPC?

Always glad to help; much like my namesake, I'm kinda into books. (Even the ones they charge for are DRM-free. No affiliation beyond being a satisifed customer.)
