The money envy in this thread is hilarious. Your hurting that bad I think I got some change in the couch cushions for you all. Well maybe enough for like one or two if you divvy up socialist style but doubt it will stretch much further then that.

Gosh that McLaren is a gorgeous car. I wonder what it's like driving a car that costs more than I make in a decade.

Yeah, about this description:
First, Treynor has awesome taste in cars.

I would say no, Treynor has more money than any of us will ever dream of and can afford to buy expensive exotic cars that most would consider "awesome" by default. Says nothing of his taste, only his money.

That doesn't make any sense. So with that thinking, no rich person has any taste, they just have a lot of money to buy stuff that normal people consider tasteful?

I didn't say they couldn't have taste. What I said was that the ability to buy expensive cars says nothing of their taste. Give me a few million dollars to spend and I'll come home with a nice trailor full of high end sports cars. Does that suddenly make me a car connoisseur or just some rich asshole with more money than he knows what to do with?

You're right, the ability to buy tasteful cars says nothing of their taste. ACTUALLY buying them does though.

He could've gone all Dubai Sheikh and had the cars completely chromed out like this, or mangle a camaro like this, but he didn't. There's a lot of rich people with horrible taste, I would say he's not one of them.

True...he could have gone that route. Maybe he just doesn't have quite enough money for the gold plating, yet. Still, all I really see is that he can afford expensive cars. If they had all clocked in at under $60,000, would the same claims to taste still be being made?

FlyingJ: 006deluxe Actually saw an MP4-12C and a ZR-1 having some stoplight-to-stoplight fight not too far from there as well. Beautiful.

Was this before or after Ryan Dunn died?

Well after. This was probably the first week in October. Saw a 458 and a Testarossa that same day. Might've been a Cars and Coffee or something nearby.

The Muthaship: 006deluxe:
Oops, I should've asked you.....

Dunno. They were going the opposite direction. They didn't launch all that hard. Could only really tell they were gunning it from the noise behind me. If they made it through the light after the one that they were stopped at they had a good mile and a half before the next light. Would've been nice to catch them there. It was a good thing I didn't have to step out of the car right afterwards...the sound of the ZR-1 made my pants fit tight.

I think they held that at the F1 race in Austin.

I wonder if that is like the other XX, where you get to own it, but Ferrari "keeps it for you".

cgraves67: Nice, a Raptor. My boss just bought one. It's fun.

The Raptors are nice, but a girl I work with has an F-150 Platinum, and it's a bit nicer than a Raptor. At $56,000 it cost more than a Raptor, and is more refined. The Raptor is the better off-road vehicle, but the Platinum is a way nicer-driving truck, if you never intend on leaving the tarmac. The Raptor's interior isn't as nice, either.

Yeah, it's similar to the FXX that way. It isn't street legal and I don't think it qualifies for any series of motorsport. It's basically a rolling hot bed of Ferrari racing technology and you pay for the right to test drive it.

Comparing the two is like comparing a Mercedes GL to a G.

One is purpose-built for off-roading, and the other is for suburban trips to the market.

Same truck, different target audiences. One is designed for the person who wants a light-duty truck with lots of chrome and leather as a daily driver but has no intention of using it as a work truck and the other is designed for the person who wants a light-duty truck with lots of matte black plastic as a daily driver but has no intention of using it as a work truck.

I worked for a guy who, at one point, owned three McLaren F1 cars. He sold one to Ralph Lauren, another to some random guy in Costa Rica and I am not sure where the third one went. But he still had a BMW M5 that was completely tweaked out by Turner Racing. I did get to drive that one, and while not being much of a car guy at all, I was really impressed.

I'm always amazed at the endless bloat of the American vehicle. That monster is a light duty truck? Whatever happened to the Ranger or the non-gigantic Tacoma? People really need to get themselves sorted. There's something wrong with a guy who needs 500 hp to get to work or a woman who needs 4 tons of steel to haul one kid.

The problem with the Carrera is that it's not an easy car to drive. If you don't know how to drive it, you will quickly find the back-end coming around on you. The braking on them is phenominal, though, and if you DO know how to drive it, it'll propel you to speeds in excess of 200, and that ain't no joke.
