quatchi: Rev. Skarekroe: quatchi: Weird, I thought he was more of a sword guy.

Apparently you missed the part of the series where Cerebus beats the Cirinists because guns have been invented and women can't shoot straight.
Seriously, that's what happened.

Booooom!

/Dave has some interesting theories about women.

Oh Dave Sims, you silly monkey.

quatchi: Cagey B: Reading that series was an interesting exercise in watching a innovative mind slowly come apart. By the end I could barely read it between the extreme amounts of crazy and the disgusting bag of shiat Dave Sim had become.

I stopped at Mothers and Daughters for similar reasons.

Yeah that was the end for me too. High Society and Church and State were some funny shiat though.

clyph: Meatschool: forgotmydamnusername: I have read some reports of M1As falling apart on people, although nothing real recent.

As someone on the market for an M1A, this is relevant to my interests.

The M1A has a long and varied manufacturing history. Some lots were better than others. The Wikipedia page has a comprehensive breakdown by serial number on the variances between lots.

That said, the only DOCUMENTED catastrophic M1A failures that I've been able to find were due to bad (overpressure) ammo. SA has a lifetime warranty for the original owner.

I actually don't remember catastrophic failures, either. It was just things like having ill-fitting parts fall off the weapon at the range. The differences in strength between forgings and castings of the same cross-section are real, but it may be that the receiver was sufficiently overbuilt in the first place that in practice it isn't that important. I do remember that there were gunsmiths who preferred to touch up the machine work and finish on Chinese Norinco receivers as opposed to using the Springfield Armory product as the basis for building an expensive M14 clone. Supposedly more likely to be 100% dimensionally correct, and forged, to boot. I don't think they import Norinco anything anymore, though.

The Cx4 storm is a pistol-caliber carbine available in 9mm, .40s&w, and .45acp. You can get versions that are magazine compatible with the Px4 series pistols or the 92/M9. Since I have a 92, the CX-4 is the natural choice for a complimentary PCC. The fact that it's completely ambidextrous is a huge plus for southpaws like me. (You can switch it from right-side to left-side ejection simply by field-stripping it)

That won't stop the media from mis-reporting that he used an evil black scary gun. Kind of like how they continued to report that Sideshow Bob was wearing body armor long after the truth came out that he was wearing a tactical vest thats about as bulletproof as a stick of butter.

High Society and Church and State are still fantastic.

But yes, Dave and Frank Miller have turned into douchenozzles.

Really?, I agree with you on the Plasma Shotgun and Javelin, and maaaaaybe on the SMG, but the Pulse Rifle just feels like ass to me.
Give me a Ghost Infiltrator or Batarian Soldier with a Harrier any day of the week.

We've been directly and semi-directly responsible for the deaths and orphanings of THOUSANDS of children overseas, and I haven't seen anyone shed 1 tear for them.

But this incident happened, and while tragic, statistically SMALL, we're ready to curtail more liberty for a false sense of security.

My personal preference was Turian weapons. Geth guns always seemed to take to long to reload.

It's a mix of the Shephard/Wrex meme and the "what's under Talia's mask" question.

Talia is a member of an alien race who all have compromised immune systems, so they basically always wear space suits that hide their faces wherever they go. Since they're an alien race, nobody knows what they really look like. At the end of Mass Effect 2, Talia removers her mask, but the "camera angle" is such that the person playing the game doesn't get to see her face. So the joke is that it's really Wrex inside the spacesuit.
