You mean to tell me that a reporter used a popular web-based medium to request an interview from someone? YE GODS! KILL HER!
Seriously, off your farking soapboxes. They run it because you seek it.

He did, however, defend her actions on press-freedom grounds. Shubailat angled for interviews Friday via Twitter during the early, chaotic hours after the shooting - when many parents with children at the school didn't know whether their sons and daughters were alive.

"Do you want us to wait until the police and the government releases that information?" Schneider asked. "I can't believe that's the kind of country you want to live in."

Wow, way to go off the deep end douchebag. No we're not asking for a police state where the media has to go through gov't channels to actually print anything. We're asking you to act like a decent human being and let people figure out WTF is actually going on before attempting to book interviews.

Actually I would like to live in the sort of world where friends and families of victims are notified of their loss by the guys on the ground first and not hounded for a story by ghouls like you.

Eat a dick indeed.

Just for interest sake, Neil MacDonald is the brother of comedian Norm MacDonald (Saturday Night Live) and is an excellent reporter.

Spare me the hand-wringing. If your buddy there were such a great reporter, he would have mentioned the goddamned shooting that just happened in that goddamned country. With a semi-automatic CZ-858 rifle, no less. Jesus Christ, man.

I do not seek it. Not in my name. Idiots seek it and it is never a good idea to validate something based on the desires of idiots.

You may think you're somehow exceptional, but really you're not. Your mere presence here shows that. This is a website where the foibles and follies of humanity load up the page by the minute. I doubt you're here to share cooking recipes.

I was talking to my kids this morning on the way to drop them off at school.

They seemed rather confused as to why so much infmoration reported on the first day was so completely wrong. Here's 2 good examples:

1. Police have found the shooter's father dead in NJ. Then found him dead in Connecticut. Turns out he's still alive.
2. The teacher in the room full of kids was his mother. Then they found her body somewhere completely off school grounds.

The best I could do was explain that the media was jockying for position to get the news out there first. They were moving so fast, they didn't even bother to check the facts. "No time for the facts. Let's just report whatever we hear!"

I think that this woman's motive was right along those lines. She wanted to get the scoop, as it were.

She's an opportunistic twunt who doesn't care at all about the feeligns of others, just so she could "get" her story and the attendant "fame" with it.

Therefore, "eat a dick" is too kind; it should be "gag and choke on a dick."

I guess when you all turned on the tv to find out the news that day you would have simply preferred no one commented on it out of respect for the dead.

Reporting what's happening is fine. Harassing broken people in the midst of the greatest tragedy one can experience in life just for ratings is not.

Those are two very different things.

Jesus the whole "LET'S INTERVIEW THE TRAUMATIZED GRADE SCHOOLERS" thing is making me really, really ill. What a bunch of ghouls.

I mean, F*CK! They're farking kids! What the hell useful information do you think you're going to get out of them? That they are, and were, scared? Were confused? No, it's just so you can milk emotion.

FARK I am fed up with the media in this country right now.

I can't say I'm offended or anything.
This is just the online equivalent of reporters searching for people walking away from an event for interviews.
It's recorded for everyone to see this time.

I'm sure the first person you'd want to talk to when your six year old was murdered is a reporter. And six more after that.

do you hit up twitter to spread the word after your 6 year old has been murdered?

In related news, I'm coming to realize more and more that the media making celebrities out of mass murderers is a reaally big part of the problem. Once someone is ready to off themselves anyway, they are pretty well faced with the choice of just killing themselves, and no one will ever know who they are, or they can do something horrific, and the media will enthusiastically pick through the person's entire life, ensuring that his name will be spoken many time for decades.

I'm damn disappointed in the fark modmin who has a personal vendetta against me. I've posted articles over the past month and not one green light. I do take it personally, and I take it as an insult to farkers who have been robbed of the chance of reading a great article like the one I've posted.

Luck everyone. My deepest condolences to those who've been affected by this tragedy.

Try paying for TotalFark and the green lights will soon follow.

His chances would be better if he was a very political conservative. Just look at the profiles of Conservatives and non-conservatives and you'll noticed that Conservatives have higher rate of getting green lites.

Call me crazy but I don't think it was that bad. She identified herself in the tweet and it's her job to get the news. Like it or not, we all want to know more about tragedies and eat up the kind of interview she wanted. Blame society for creating the demand, if you want to blame someone.

Her "police state" quote is obviously stupid but I imagine at that point she was a little stressed by the (over-) reaction to the tweet.

I also find it kinda amusing that this person is now much more in the media spotlight than if the tweet had been simply ignored.

Nadine, if you are reading this, these threats are over the top and should stop. On the off chance that someone does make good on one, however, can I have the first interview with you?

Nah, I like the country where they name the brother of the shooter as the perp.

I guess you missed the part where it was law enforcement itself incorrectly telling the news agencies the shooter's name?

No, people wanted to know if kids got out safely, if there was still a second gunman on the loose etc. Info the police have provided without the need for reporters.

Not "So your cousin was shot point blank several times, how do you feel?"

If it bleeds it leads. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

When they run out of details to report, they just show pictures of the victims with sad music (for the 1000th time) and start interviewing the local news photographer.
