I actually thought this article would be about animist beliefs affecting an election in Africa.

I don't know--they spread horror and terror in Maine and Maine's used to horror and terror what with 'Salem's Lot being there and all.

The US presidency has been compromised by spooks since 2008, so this is nothing new.

"South Korean voters will have to make a choice not between independent politicians... but between two people who are seen as avatars, embodiments of two great dead men."

That's the widely shared opinion of Andrei Lankov of Kookmin University in Seoul. This election has been heavily influenced by the ghosts of presidents past.

Ah, so they're being metaphorical. When I moused over the link and saw it was South Korea, I figured it had to be literal.

/fan death's been mentioned

Bad DJ! Very bad!

We just moved into a very old house (nine days ago). This morning at about 2:00 we heard a loud crashing sound throughout the house. We got up to find that one picture in every room where we'd hung them had fallen to the floor. Just one in each room. The hangers were still secured to the walls and the fittings were still fastened to the picture frames. I'm a little freaked by it, but my wife is cool with it.

Might want to go with a different brand of wall hooks there.
