Yep, if Grover had gotten his way, we'd have to bust out this picture.

And really, if your beard only grows as thinly as that, just go dig out your razor because you look ridiculous. It's silly on 15-year-old boys, and it doesn't get any less silly when you start going gray.

The funny thing is, he's already won. He's just playing for points right now. Basically proving how in the dark people really are.

"Giving up or delaying the debt ceiling is a big deal for which one would have to be paid a large sum of money," he said.

Pretty sure the Gov. of Illinois was thrown in prison for saying something like this.

This is what an extortion demand sounds like.

Still makes me wonder how he got relevant in the first place. I mean, who is this guy in the scheme of things and how the hell did he get so many Republicans to walk in lockstep with his tax "plan" for so long?!

He threatened to primary out anyone who broke their tax pledge promise instead of sypporting them for signing it. Essentually gaining huge amounts of control of the GOP for very little money.
He also on a lot of groups boards(NRA and a few others) which gives him some profile in right wing groups making him more influential.
And his think-tank/lobby group is influential sounding enough with low-information voters to move some small amount of them.

All it took to bring him down to where he is now was letting him into the light.

The SS Grover is sinking, and the rats are abandoning ship at an alarming (for him) rate. Those tax rates are going up. The writing is on the wall, and he doesn't have the clout to stop it. If he fights it and loses, he proves to everyone that he has become irrelevant. If he plays it off as "the big mean poopy-head president forced us to do it, so it doesn't count", maybe they will let him hang around a little longer before casting him back to obscurity. He really has no other move here.

The GOP has more loyalty to a sleazy DC lobbyist than they do to the people of the United States of America.
