I'm not sure why a psychotic, spoiled brat stealing his mommy's guns would give enough reason to change gun laws.

A gun is a tool and does not act on its own. If you take away guns, they will be replaced with the next most dangerous weapon. The only reason we use firearms is because something more dangerous has not been created or legalized for civilian use.

What happened was tragic, but changing gun laws won't make it suck any less nor will it prevent it from happening in the future.

The people at fault are the parents of this nut case.

Not me.

Perhaps we could persuade America's Ruling Class (ARCTM) to post their rules and regulations online, so the little people (that's you and me) could educate ourselves about what we're allowed to do and not do.

OK, let's take a look at this:

Its founder, Stephen A. Feinberg, hunts regularly on the weekends with a Remington Model 700.

This is a Remington 700:

I mean, if we allow hunting, isn't a traditional bolt action style rifle the sort of thing that we say isn't going to be banned? Why name it, then? What else is he supposed to use, harsh language?

On Colt Defense's Web site, it markets weapons for law enforcement and the military, including a 9-millimeter submachine gun that looks like something out of the video game Call of Duty. These are weapons you hope never fall into consumers' hands.

And generally they don't because it's illegal for any civilian to own a newly manufactured machine gun, and it has been for 26 years now.

Its the fact that they can kill so quickly and easily. Maybe America would be a better place today if it wasn't so darn easy to kill someone?

The next most dangerous weapon isn't capable of killing 26 people with ease in a matter of minutes. The guy in China who attacked a school with a knife - he was just as crazy, but didn't manage to kill a single person.

Eliminating guns would not end violence, but it would make it a hell of a lot harder.

1. It doesn't change the fact that there are far too many guns in this country
2. It's far too easy to get a gun.
3. Conservatives always say "more guns would make us safer", despite all evidence and common sense to the contrary.
4. Every once in a great while, some relatively sane person with a gun will prevent a mass shooting or other crime.....but more often than not, it doesn't happen that way.

Are you talking about Joel Myrick, I think that happened before Columbine. But either way is a good example of a gun holder stopping a spree killer.

America is getting a good look at gun "enthusiasts" right now, in the wake of this latest school shooting. And they don't like what they see. Keep dreaming that this is going away. Maybe not tomorrow, but it's going to be addressed. We had to drag you mouthbreaters into the 20th century with healthcare reform the same way we had to come down South and shoot you to make you give up your farm equipment. Nobody trusts you any more.

Enjoy

Knee jerk? Hardly. This has been going on for quite some time and every time it comes up all you hear is that this isn't the time to be talking about it.

I can't wrap my head around why guns are so very important to people. What do they lose in life with more gun control? It has exactly zero impact on quality of life only that people are a little less likely to be gunned down in a rampage.

2012-12-18 12:48:58 PM
You know people often ask how many guns it takes to overthrow a president. I always answer one. This is the Secret Services answer, if you are truly determined to do something ,and are willing to sacrifice your self to do it, success is very likely. No amount of gun control is likely to stop this. It is able to be stopped but the amount of oppression would be antithetical to the US mind set. We need to change the culture in this country when it comes to mental health. We need to realize that there is a reason people do evil things like this. Part of it is the US individualist mindset, we hold up the exceptional and those that are willing to buck the system for some righteous cause. I am not criticising this as I think that it does create a stronger nation in many ways. But to not acknowledge that is has some negative aspects is foolish.

Absolutely we need a School Security Authority (SSA). The SSA would need to hire and train thousands of new police security specialists, go on a building program to put up 12 foot tall double rows of razor wire topped fences, car stopping concrete obstructions, and security checkpoints at all entrances to public school grounds.

Your child would have to pass through a back scatter machine and be searched every time they enter school grounds, all bags or backpacks would have to be made of clear plastic and scanned, no unauthorized personnel, and only staff would be authorized, would be allowed past the check points.
