The first mass-shooting event must have been a marketing ploy by an association of firearms manufacturers, and then it went viral!

Hussey's General Store in Windsor doesn't carry assault rifles, but reported a jump in handgun sales over the weekend

If they stocked a bunch of assault rifles they wouldn't have any room for the wedding dresses, now would they?

franknterry.com

A handgun wedding?

Call me old fashioned but I still prefer a shotgun for those affairs.

Article is kinda confusing.

Stock prices are down but sales and gun prices are going through the roof?

People are clueless. This isn't people buying guns for protection. They are worried Obama will take guns away. Obama has not been waiting in the wings, slowly taking step by step every action to separate you from your pride and joy: your guns. Dream on! That idea is stark raving mad, and only the NRA/Republican dinosaurs in congress cling to it. I am anti-gun, but I recognize that America is flying blind when it comes to gun control. We could get the full houses of congress to vote to ban assault weapons and it would still fail. The lobbyists are just a bunch of old men behaving badly, spending tons of money, hearts afire with thoughts more gun revenues. I'd love to think something good will blossom out of this, and maybe a man like Obama, truly grace under pressure can make some small thing happen. As if the gun nuts care. You don't think the thoughts of someone who lost a member of their family matters? I hate the amount of spin in our capital city. Maybe in some other place like say Boston, it isn't as common. Hell, even Jesse Helms would probably think twice at all this violence. All's fair in love and war? Tell that to the nurses in ERs across the land when they encounter wounds that were the result of hatred, accident, or just about anything but love. Or don't. Just listen to your biased news radio as the darkness of evening shades another day off the calendar. Whatever.

i know quite a few. The thing I don't get is why they need so many. I mean people buying multiples copies of the same rifle just because they think it's going to be banned.

FTFA: In the three days after the shootings in Colorado, background checks for people seeking to buy guns surged more than 40 percent nationally, to 2,887 requests,

40%. Nationally. 2,887 requests. NATIONALLY. Out of over 300,000,000 people.

It's a pretty good investment. When the national AWB went into effect the prices on high capacity magazines went through the roof.

It doesn't even make sense. TFA also says there have been 16.8 million requests this year. That's 50,000 a day, give or take. So... 'spiked' to 2887 in a 3 day period? They need to check their numbers.

Guns barely, if ever, depreciate so they're a decent investment. If you knew a gun was going to get banned then buying a handful would be make a decent return. But I imagine must people buy guns they think are going to be banned out of fear rather than financial investment heh.

I have a CAR-3 HBAR Elite (modified ar-15) that I can still sell for a little more than I bought it for a long time ago.

there are a multitude of ways that a sicko can kill. guns are just one of them.

the biggest ever school massacre was in 1927. this shiat is not new

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bath_School_disaster

that sicko used dynamite. explosives can be fashioned with fertilizers, dry ice even.

gun control won't cure the sickos. counseling, drugs and lockup if necessary is the answer. either that or we will have to ban poop as well.

i'm a liberal, but guns are a freedom. in fact i'm pretty sure the constitution didn't just want us to have guns - but a way to remove our government with force. i'm not advocating that. but guns are one of the mericun freedoms which we are losing one by one

You have to ignore several other constitutional rights to undertake these, especially involuntary commitment.

If the 2nd is iron-clad and non-reviewable, we have to take a good hard look at all other personal freedoms.

The people that rush out and buy guns in situations like this are mostly law-abiding gun owners, thus them buying their guns before the laws change. Responsible gun owners pay when shiat like this happens. Crazy mass murderers will always find a work-around to any enforcable gun control act you can come up with. Personally I wouldn't mind regulation to the point to where you had to get education and a permit to carry assault rifles, but I think that might be too middle of the road for those who want to repeal the second amendment and those who want no regulation at all.
