When the Greatest Player of all time for your football team last played for your team before most of the people voting were even born speaks volumes about how shiatty that team has been in the last 35+ years.

Especially when you consider that the Greatest Player of all time for the Jets is only considered to be so due to predicting a win and then winning a Super Bowl. He has some of the worst stats of any Hall of Famer, the numbers he put up are comparable to Sanchez's with the exception of Super Bowl wins.

How about Fireman Ed? Any large man who makes his buddy hold him up for 3 hours in order to attention whore, and then ragequits when being called an attention whore must be awesome.

Has any other NFL team been that devoid of talent for their entire history?

If you were going to do a draft of players from any era, when does the first Jets player go? 10th round? 20th? Even if you cut it off at players since 1960, 5th round? Also: Deslided

Wayne Chrebet at #8 and Keyshawn Johnson nowhere on the list. lol.

2012-12-18 12:57:32 PM
Curtis Martin should be number 1 easily.

2012-12-18 01:09:57 PM
Joe Klecko, Mark Gastineau, and Marty Lyons weren't that bad. Lance Mehl was a better than average player. Darrel Revis is good. There were worse LBs than Bart Scott, although I think he's now over the hill. It's just that they've had crap QBs, really mediocre WRs other than Wayne Chrebet, and Freeman McNeil was the only running back that anyone might possibly have heard of other than Martin. McNeil was serviceable most of the time, as best I can remember, but the real reason you'll recognize the name is the free-agency lawsuit he filed and the NFL lost.

If you are talking about notability, and other "intangibles", yeah, he it the most notorious and famous long time Jet.

My point is if you want a insta greenlight on fark just submit something about NY, the jets, tebow, the giants, the knicks, the nets, the yankees or ANYTHING on the daily fail website.

The jets aren't even good and this is the 3rd greenlight today. Why?

My newsflash about the starting QB change didn't go green, so your argument is invalid.

I just did a Google search that led to this gem from Deadspin a couple of years ago. Lots of former Jets on the list. Surprised at the lack of Bengals.

That list is interesting and great in its suckiness.

#3 Babe Laufenberg wasn't even good in the WLAF.... I recall in 1992 with the Ohio Glory watching a game where he threw an interception while laying on his back.

From your link:  One year later, with Jim McMahon and Steve Fuller hurt, Lisch started a game for the Bears against Green Bay. He played so poorly that Mike Ditka pulled him. For Walter Payton.

Ouch! That's like pulling Sanchez and putting in Tebow.

I already suggested that the Vikes should put athletic lineman/blocking TEs at every position, then just direct snap it to AP on every play to go 10 on 11 with actual blockers. No one agreed.

///No one really disagreed either though...

I think you could try this as a "quick" play, but, it wouldn't work every down.

Although, if you lined up your three WR way outside, they wouldn't be really very close to get to AP... you'd have then your 5 LM and 2 TE (who could be pretty big) there to block.   Still, there would be an uncovered guy on defense, right?

If they started rushing all the cover guys on the receivers because they saw AP was running every time, hopefully AP could lob  a pass to a streaking receiver upfield ok.

While this is a complete fantasy as a viable offense, I think it comes down to can your 10 block their 10 and can the RB make the unblocked guy miss. My point of using OL or TEs lined up as WRs (in WR jerseys, to stop the whole "reporting as eligible receiver" BS someone brought up last time) is that they are going to block CB/Ss more effectively than a WR. The defense could counter by bringing in more DL/LBs to line up outside, but now they are way out of position and may have to cover TEs who have some measure of pass catching experience in case of the remote threat of the occasional pass.
