FRISBEE!

OK the funny part is that about 5 houses down we have a nice city park which includes a nice, big, partially wooded disc golf course. And of course I let my dog run around without a leash. My dog is trained to come when I call though and he listens to me plus has an extreme 'leave it' that keeps him from any stray frisbees.

He isn't really used to chasing frisbees anyway so he isn't really attracted to them- I have tried throwing frisbees for him because I can throw them further with less effort, but they are WAY too easy for him to destroy. Any normal frisbee he can immediately crack in half. The black kong frisbee was also easily destroyed...

Yea we go leashless all the time- it is why I love winter because all our great city parks are empty. I never do this around busy streets and we always leash up when we are going to pass someone. Never had a problem.

99.998er: Forget about the safety issues. What about the shiat disc players have to avoid?

I carry an entire roll of bags with me to clean up after my dog. And in the dog's defense, my local disc golf players have a problem with leaving bottles (occasionally broken!) around the park.

It's played like ball golf, but with frisbee-like discs instead of balls and baskets instead of holes. It was first played in the early 1900's, shortly after the "invention" of the flying disc. Tournaments started in the 1960's using trees and trashcans as "holes". The first course was built at Oak Grove Park (now Hahamongna Park) in La Canada, California in 1975. I play there regularly.

Look, my dog doesn't really give two craps about people- he is a German Shepherd so he could care less unless someone was walking directly towards me. He doesn't approach people, if he so much as turns toward someone and takes a step I call him to me and leash him up. If he ran at someone I would fully expect them to kick them, shoot him, or at least yell at him and me- I would do the same thing if some strange dog was running at me.

Seriously, what kind of pussy is afraid of a dog. Two kinds of dogs out there: super-friendly lap babies who want to get petted, and scaredy/barky or aggressive dogs that I can scare the shiat out of, because I am a gigantic goddam primate who can throw rocks. The only dog I've ever been slightly worried about was an aggressive, half-a-killer Rottweiller who musta weighed 150 pounds, and I got my pistol out to deal with him if needed (wasn't needed).

That is what my disc golf park looks like all winter- completely empty and full of pristine snow...

Really? People are afraid of dogs? That's ridiculous. I can see being scared of people, but dogs? You don't have to be tough to not be scared of dogs, that's just standard being a people.

When I was a kid, there were no leash laws, because I lived in the sticks, and we used to chase off barky dogs by throwing rocks at them. You bow up on a dog, they haul ass.

never had a problem - until the first time. there are leash laws for good reasons. know it all's like you are why other peoples pets get bit or animal lovers (like my wife) cry many tears when your dog finally does chase whatever one day and it's dusk/dark, rainy and wham. then you're upset, my wife is upset, it costs us over $1500 to fix the undercarriage of the Scion not including the front air dam still needing replacement but worst of all your pet is dead. people like you that are so cock-sure they are just great dog trainers and pet owners bring sorrow to other people and pets, it's just a matter of time. the world is full of your type. you'll never change. mr know it all. you make me sick.
