sigdiamond2000: The Lions are an absolutely perfect, poetic representation of Metro Detroit, which of course is why they are by far the most popular team in the area.

Only until the lockout ends.

Lions seemed to be going in the right direction after last season, fans were on board, etc. Schwartz seems like a throbbing asshole but he had them fired up. Am quite surprised that they fell to the bottom of the NFC North while the Vikes, who some predicted to win 2 games this season, about to overtake the Bears.

My Bears collapsing, however, not so surprising. Won't mind seeing Lovie gone after this season, although I wanted him gone when they cleaned house last year too.

Quasar: The Lions are sloppy, undisciplined, violent, and monumentally underperforming. Whose fault is that?

Normally i'd cut a Lions coach some slack because he doesn't have the talent or is rebuilding the team. But this is squarely on Schwartz. He is a hothead. 7th most penalized team in the NFL this year, 3rd most penalized last year. Lots of off-the-field issues. Coach gets in fights. 2nd worst in turnover margin only to the Eagles. Reputation as some of the dirtiest players in the NFL.

These are problems the coach is responsible for. He should be fired.

Does he have pics of the owner "partying" with Sandusky?

Yakk: Bring back Wayne Fontes! 66-67, I am just saying.

Cocaine Wayne! Best coach in Lions history, sadly.

hold up a second

he has a worse record than the guy who coached them to an 0-16 season?

jgi: Ford needs to sell the Lions to ownership that actually enjoys football.

On November 22, 1963 William Clay Ford, Sr. purchased a controlling interest in the team for $4.5 million. During his ownership tenure, the Lions have won just one playoff game.

That's actually incredible. I can't imagine there is another team that has won only one playoff game since 1963. Or 1993.

And they had Mongo playing for them.

The day the Ford family no longer has anything to do with Lions football will be the happiest day of my life, and I have a kid.
Ok not really but it'd be pretty dang close.

Maybe if Karmanos sells Compuware he'll buy the Lions.

If Karmanos sells Compuware he'll just give the money to Kwame for his "defense fund."

49 seasons, one playoff win. Common denominator = owner.

Listen, Detriot, if you like eating shiat keep going to these games. If you don't like how the team is managed stop going and the owner will be forced to sell after a few more seasons of futiliy.

Mike Brown Bengals

182: highbrow45: Someone needs to go... if not Schwartz then at least Linehan.

Linehan is goes than Schwartz won't be far behind. No other GM would put up with such poor coaching of a very talented team.

I think Schwartz should go but he won't because of the extension. He'll get one more year and hopefully not more (unless they improve greatly next season). I think the play calling has been awful this year. The Lion's lack of a running game has been more due to a lack of running plays this year than a lack of talent at the running back position. We can do more than throw the ball but we're still one-dimensional because Linehan chooses to be.

sammyk: There are going te be a ton of coaching vacancies at the end of the year. If you were a top talent coach and you had opportunities in places like Philly, San Diego, or Charlotte would you really consider Detroit? Not if you like winning or non-Siberian type weather.

The weather in Philly isn't any different than the weather in Detroit; plus, Detroit plays in a dome.

LOL, snark accepted. But Fontes owns the lone playoff win. Therefore Fontes>Mo

Incorrigible Astronaut: Jim from Saint Paul: GQueue: Jim from Saint Paul: I am not completely letting him off the hook. I am suggesting that O-Line is bottomo 5 in the league awful and that WILL affect how your QB plays

Unless you're on the Bears, in which case people will say the QB sucks even though he has no line and one receiver.

People who think Jay Cutler sucks need to have Christian Ponder quarterback their team.

Would you rather have the intimidation gauntlet of Quinn, Cassell, and Stanzi? I sincerely take Ponder right now over what we've got.

I'd take Shaun Hill over Ponder at this point.

So, you're saying Lee Harvey Oswald was just an especially perceptive Lions fan?

If he was, then he obviously shot the wrong person.
