Doctor Funkenstein: [i595.photobucket.com image 220x153]

Dear Preznit Obaphone.

I am writing you to let you know that your re-erection does not mean man dates. I don't want to date men. I also don't want mooselimbs. Moose are big and do not have thumbs. How will I be able to keep my job at the vest factory with no thumbs?!? We need our guns to shoot the moose so they don't take our limberties.

Potatoely yours,

Torg.

P.S. I saw you on the TV. You are very brown.

Dear Torg,

Thank you very much for your kind letter. Your thumbs, liberties, and freedom to not date men will not be impinged upon by my administration. No promises about the guns though. On the bright side, I will protect the worker's union at the vest factory.

Sincerely,

President Obama

P.S. If you are interested in learning more about my racial heritage, just ask your mother.

You know, the people that are responsible for spending bills.

The Constitution explicitly outlines the separation of powers: It is the job of the House of Representatives to sign off on $6T in spending, and then it is the President's job to take the blame when the House refuses to pay for it.

That'll show us, and you'll be spared the torturous 4 years(or more!!!!!!) under the brutal reign of Generalissimo Barack Hussein (he'll discard the last name after the inauguration, I read it somewhere).

Wow. Way to be classy.

So, they don't deserve ridicule? I disagree. I will take every opportunity I can to remind my GOPper family/friends that they lost and that any minute Obama is going to jump out from behind that bush/tree/trash can and take their guns, liberty, force them to gay marry each other, AND have late-term abortions.....EVERY DAY!

I'm sorry, but GOPpers do not deserve to be treated with class anymore. Liberal hunting permits, "surveyor's marks", "I came unarmed....THIS time"...fark those assholes.

Personally i think the freak-outs over guns being taken away vs guns staying are a little funny... despite the shooting.

If, Obama is the Socialist monster looking to destabilize america by destroying the economy etc.

Guns are the last things he wants to get rid of.

The idea goes that As economy destabilizes, people hoard and lock and load. Violence increases. Eventually outside sources have to send in military to take control.

Going with the idea, it would be a military chosen by Obama. Allowing him to increase his hold.

So, there we go. Either Obama's not a socialist and is going to get rid of guns. Or he is, and nobody's in danger of losing them.

Or I've had entirely too much caffeine, office chocolate and cookies, and watched entirely too much Doctor Who on netflix last night.

I thought it was clever to complain that Obama both has been spending recklessly AND he hasn't approved a budget (which is spending money.) Don't even need to get into what a ridiculous criticism it is that an omnibus spending bill somehow doesn't is inferior to a budget or point out which branch the responsibility falls on, going with "he spends too much and he won't pass a spending bill" is like the old "the food was terrible and the portions were too small" complaint; I have to assume it was a joke.

The last I checked, even House Democrats were unwilling to vote on budget bills that were introduced to codify the president's current spending.

This is my favorite, especially since there's no such thing as an electoral college "quorum," and I'm always in favor of teabaggers removing themselves voluntarily from the political process.

So your vote is not a vote for the president, it`s a vote for someone else to then go on and hopefully vote the same way later?

Democracy, how does it work?

I'm almost kind of disappointed. I was sort of hoping the Congressional Republicans would try to find some way to prevent the electoral votes from officially being counted. Something that would justify mass arrests and indefinite detention by the White House.

"November 6 saw Obama pass the electoral threshold of 270 - from a total of 538 votes - as ballots from Ohio rolled in, besting Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. Ultimately, Obama won 332 electoral votes, with 51% of the popular vote, to Romney's 207, with 47% of the popular vote."

Gotta love the irony of Romney's final tally of 47% of the popular vote.

The Vice President, as President of the Senate, presides over the count and announces the results of the Electoral College vote. The President of the Senate then declares which persons, if any, have been elected President and Vice President of the United States

Unless Biden becomes senile, we should be OK.

JusticeandIndependence: MFAWG: Not yet it isn't.

Wut?

Congress counts the electoral votes and declares the winner on January 6. Theoretically, it's possible for objections to be made but only if both a Representative and a Senator sign it, and that couldn't be done even in 2000 when there was plenty to object to.

c152atn67: 332 + 207 = 538?

Obviously a typo but it brings up a good point: can we have an odd number of electoral votes so there is no (or a lot less of a) possibility of a tie?

If we're going to do that, let's just chuck the system (along with Congressmen elected by district).

The number is tied to Congressional representation: 435 representatives and 100 senators, plus the three electors from the District of Columbia. There would have to be a new state admitted to the union, which could temporarily add representatives until the next census, but after the census the fixed number of 435 would be reapportioned among the 51 states, while the senate would increase to 102 because every state gets 2 senators. D.C. statehood would possibly result in an odd number after the census following admission.
