Unfortunate. BUT, thinking about it, you guys love your guns sooo much, (enshrined in the Constitution, etc) why should they be hidden away when someone goes a bit mental with one. Personally, I would shut down all gunmakers. but hey....

No it isn't, it's marketing genius. What do you think the first thing gun nuts think about when there's a mass shooting?

A decade ago the media was full of stories about killer SUVs and after each one people would rush out to buy more and bigger SUVs to avoid becoming the next victim.

I'm okay with dead babies. This is a small price to pay for Jim Bob McGun-nut's comfort as he stockpiles assault rifles in his backwater shanty while jerking off to Rush Limbaugh and dreaming of dead black people.

I blame the parents. They knowingly sent their children to a Jesus-free government school, supported by taxes immorally stolen from the job creators. What did they expect would happen?

Great. A "freedom of the press", "murdered school children" and "freedom to own guns" circle jerk. Where did I put my lotion?

What's the problem here?

Guns are perfectly legal and benign. There's nothing wrong with them. Guns don't kill people, people kill people, etc.

Co-worker's wife was getting him an AR for Christmas, instead of risking it she was taking him Saturday to pick it out himself. He told us that Thursday and was off on Friday. He just came in and said it took nearly 4 hours because of the crowd and all the background checks that had to be processed on Saturday.

I for one agree with the Admins should be Trained, and Armed idea. I don't want Rent a Gun, or Students carrying. I don't even want Teachers carrying, as they are too busy w Sex-Ed One-on-One.
Who better than the Admin that we trust with InLocoParentis to be able to swiftly and skillfully defend against an armed attacker at least until on duty Police can arrive and take the body into custody.

As a Mini-14 guy, I can't help but feel a little slighted that these psychos all seem to go for the Bushmaster. I get it, the Ruger isn't as sexy and maybe not as accurate but dammit it gets the job done for half the price.

From a gun ownership perspective (*)

If every adult in that school had a gun and was trained to use it properly, no child would have died that day.

Seriously, worrying about blowback from gun nuts is ludicrous. No matter what happens, their instinct is to stockpile guns.

Democrats threaten gun control? Buy more guns.
Democrats silent on gun control? Buy more guns.
Democrats sign legislation loosening gun restrictions in national parks and elsewhere? Buy more guns.
Economy struggling through recession? Buy more guns.
Economy recovering and doing well? Buy more guns.

This is literally the thinking of a crazy person.

Suggesting "more guns" as a solution to the problem of gun violence is actually insane. Arming everyone will not prevent massacres, and will only precipitate far more acts of violence, both intentional and accidental.

Dear America,

You're farked. The genie is out of the bottle. The can of worms has been opened. You ain't gonna be able to make things right.

You might be able to get rid of the guns, but you're never going to be able to get rid of the attitudes towards them.

Its funny because cops accidentally kill far more innocent bystanders than do armed civilians.

Nah, instead it was Mrs. McGun-nut's son, who shot her with one of her own guns and then took them down to the school.

I think my point stands the way it is. These mass shootings are a small price to pay for some paranoid, gun-hoarding moron's peace of mind.

What's the ratio of accidental deaths vs. lives saved?

He was. Lanza's mother (and first victim) was an NRA member, gun stockpiler, and "prepper" who took her sons shooting and trained them in their use.

It was a family of "Bob McGun-nuts." If they were not, we wouldn't be here today discussing it.

I'm annoyed with this attitude that guns are bad, but if I handed you a gun would you go shooting everyone? No, so why is it assumed a gun in the hands of anyone turns them into a homidal mania.

Want to end this problem, put an armed marshall in every school, or follow suit with Israel's smart move, arm the teachers.

How many lives would have been saved if the teachers or principal was armed.

Actually, depends,
1) if it were known by the shooter that the entire staff was packing, yes, he may have totally avoided that school and went for another target (though depending on his motive, there may have been something specific about this school though for him)
2) I'd be willing to say that fewer children would have died, but not "no child", him with the element of surprise and all.

But then that needs to be weighed against the risk of having that many weapons in a school every single day. Accidents happens. People would get hurt and possible killed as a result of those accidents. How many? More or less than the total of psycho shootings? I dunno.
