Oh... Bless your little hearts, Teabaggers. You guys are just adorable when you think you're smart enough to accomplish something more mentally taxing than scribbling your illiteracy on a poster board.

"Restore American freedom"?

You mean they're going to bring the 4th amendment back?

Please proceed, Tea-per Tantrum.

That went away years ago when "DUI checkpoints" were considered constitutional by the SCOTUS (I'm sure other examples exist prior that)

They could team up with the Flat Earth Society and form a new completely stupid organization.

"If the founders of America....caved in the face of early defeats..."

Didn't the Founders remain steadfast against oppression of the common citizen by the wealthy and privileged? Consider a rename to East India Teabagger Company.

Pretty sure the founders caved pretty quickly in any attempt to address slavery.

liverleef: The tea party is destroying the GOP. Keep up the good work.

This, really. The longer the Tea Party exists, the harder it is on the GOP to get its house in order.

At the moment, the Tea Party retards are far more interested in fighting the GOP than the Democrats. That's the downside of having a 24/7 derp machine with years in between elections.

In the lull, they eat their own.

What "freedoms" are these folks fighting for exactly?

Economic freedom? Because promoting corporate profits over local growth actually limits social mobility and competition in the markets.

Religious freedom? Because freedom of religion means that the government doesn't interfere with anyone's right to worship--or not worship--no matter their faith. That means Mormons, Muslims, Buddhists and even atheists have the right to pursue their faith without support or hinderance.

Privacy? Because a lot of the laws that TEA Party patriots seem to advocate run exactly counter to that.

Equality? Because championing the cause of those who want to see limits on the rights of citizens to marry doesn't sound much like "freedom"...

2012-12-17 10:00:54 AM
First they have to articulate exactly what freedom they think is missing, and needs to be restored.

This could be a huge time-saver if they realize that they're trying to save some vague sense of liberty from an imaginary threat, like UN troops amassing in Mexico to put conservatives in boxcars. In that case, they can simply declare victory and go home happy.

Their freedom to demand that everyone be god fearing Christians, to pay no taxes (but recieve their own benefits, the "got mine so fark yours" crowd) and to have an arsenal of weaponry that can rival a battalion of Marines.

Oh and by their freedom, I mean, their *personal* freedom. Other people's freedom isn't important.

You know who else overcame early defeats in an attempt to restore his country to its former greatness?

It may be that the reason the Tea Party's having trouble is because their ideas suck.

What do you mean by this?

That America used to be like a white and delightsome slice of bread?

And now it is slowly becoming darker under the insidious influence of the flames of Hell, and that it will soon crumble and become a loathsome, moldy crust?

If so, then in the "hip" parlance of you whippersnappers, THIS.

It was OK then because George Bush was a Republican so obviously everything he did was for the good of the country. You can tell because of the (R) next to his name, the news always colored his name in Red, and his mascot was the Elephant.

The main part of the law is what they have a problem with: if you import labor, you receive a 20% tax break on all shutdown costs overseas and all startup costs domestically. Lets say you want to start a Gadget Manufacturing Company, and you were looking at $10M in startup costs domestically. If you instead start the company overseas, with a much lower startup cost (say, $1.5M) and then import them shortly after, you receive $2.3M in tax breaks - a net gain for doing nothing.

There's a few other complaints (it covers companies relocating automated factories, it's Big Government telling corporations what to do, etc), but that's the primary one methinks.
