When my neighbor's estranged husband did donuts in her back yard at midnight, that was pretty redneck. But that was just one crazy guy.

That was pretty damn funny. I could have used another minute or two to hear the Chevy guy weeping at his pathetic display of nothingness, or another 10 minutes of the cops giving him the ass whooping that the Dodge driver just bestowed upon him.

There ARE no "light duty" Dodge trucks. My Dakota rolls out twice a day with a 1700lbs load, not even a creaking sound.

That's great, but the Ram 2500/3500 and above are considered heavy duty trucks. You're Dakota, no matter what you think, is not considered a heavy duty truck.

Yeah, don't put a 1500 up against a heavy duty diesel built specifically for low end torque.... and considering the tires didn't even peel out, I am wondering if he even had the damned thing in gear... was nothing but brakes at the end.

As somebody that just spent 2K rebuilding the tranny on my 96 3500 Dodge Diesel ........I know somebody who will have a hurt wallet soon. As a Dodge owner, pound for pound, Chevy and Ford are better.

2012-12-17 03:46:09 AM
so it seems that the dodge guy just let his accelerator go when the chevy wasnt ready and caused the the chevy coefficient of friction to go from static to dynamic. are the two trucks similar weight? cuz that is the only thing that matters in a contest like that.

Wow man, way to go the extra three inches. Just said that Dodge doesn't make "light duty" trucks.

Didn't say "My Dakota is a double-dualie extended king cab nine liter double splitter four by with a sledge hitch"... no. I didn't.

If you're gonna nit-pick, why don't you get a phone that doesn't treat you like a baby. XD

I'm fairly certain this whole situation comes down to the guy in the dodge doing a lot of towing and the guy in the Shivrolet not understanding that you load WITH the brake,

Was a question of the more experienced driver. And the tires on the dodge had better traction.

I was nit-picking because your statement was ludicrous. Even the Ram 1500, a bigger truck than your Dakota, is classified as a light duty truck by Federal regulations (defined as a truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight of less than 8500 lbs). Dodge has the 1500 listed on their own website as a light duty truck. The 2500 and 3500 are heavy duty trucks.

We know the Dodge in the clip must be at least a 2500 because it is a diesel. My point being that if the Chevy is not also a 2500/3500 (we already know it's not a diesel) it's going to be a lot lighter than that Dodge. It also wouldn't have the torque. The Dodge was going to eat him alive no matter how experienced the driver of the Chevy was.

/But you're right about my phone.
//Plus I love seeing Chevy drivers owned, so can't we just get along?

Those second generation Rams had all sorts of transmission problems. My father-in-law went through two in his 96. I don't know if they fixed the trannies on the later generations. However, I'd rather have that Cummins engine you have than that POS 2003-2007 6.0L Ford Powerstroke engine, and I'm saying that as a current Ford owner. A couple of friends of mine have spent north of $5k just trying to fix theirs.

What really ruined it was not seeing what happened next.

"Oh hell, the cops is right by too."

About 10 years ago street racers used to hang out in a KMart parking lot in Houston and the cops arrived and arrested a couple hundred people.

I remember that! CSB: I got in a big flamewar on one of the forums I read at the time (this was before I found Fark). The article about it mentioned that one of the kids was a straight A student, so I commented on the general irrelevance of grades in cases like that. Then everybody made the natural Internet assumption that because I said something slightly bad about one side, I was therefore 100% in agreement with the opposite side, thought those kids should have been rounded up and arrested despite the fact that they weren't causing anybody harm.
Ah, memories. I still haven't learned my lesson and do the same thing frequently.

If the Chevrolet driver was smart, this:

Cops: Want to tell us what the hell you people were doing out here?

Chevrolet driver: Well, I was stopped talking to my friends here, and this jackass backed up and chained up my vehicle. Next thing I know, he was lurching me backward and I had no way of getting traction at that point to stop him.

Cops: OK.... are you sure that's the real story?

Chevrolet Driver and friends: Yep, we are sticking with that story....

Dodge driver gets busted, even while protesting. It didn't look like any of the people there were his friends, based on the reactions of the crowd. He'd be screwed.

Even if the cops consider what they were pretty sure had really happened, they'd also know the Dodge driver went too far in taking off around the parking lot like that, and be just as happy to lock him up and impound his truck.

Yep, nothing like staged competition to show what steroids can do. Some corn syrup on the floor and you would've seen arms come out of their sockets.

/they used corn syrup on the floor of Flint's Perani's arena so the trucks could control themselves in such a tight space.
//the kids running motor bikes during intermissions had trouble on the corners due not being able to slide the rear tire.
///it was impressive to see the trucks get enough speed to get air and come to a complete stop in the length of a hockey rink.

And then they would see the video on LiveFaceTube and come back on impound the Chevy driver's truck for the same thing and also add filing false report / lying to the cops charges.

If you told me this happened in the Wal-Mart parking lot of my home town (Moundsville, WV), I would not even flinch. This shiat happens every single day in pseudo-rural West Virginia. I saw pseudo-rural because, while designated as a rural area, these jackwagons only drive on pavement.

SnarfVader: Those second generation Rams had all sorts of transmission problems. My father-in-law went through two in his 96. I don't know if they fixed the trannies on the later generations.

They are all based on Torqueflites, which means you have to keep the band for 2nd gear adjusted.
If your father in law went thru two, the people working on his transmission didn't know what they were doing, maintenance like the above mentioned band adjustment wasn't performed, or both.
If the band does go out, usually by getting so loose thru neglect that the adjuster falls off into the pan, 2nd gear will cease to function.
A savvy transmission technician can change the band by dropping the valve body.
Of course, most places would rather sell you a new transmission and give you a song and dance about transmission problems on Dodges. The choice is yours.
The transmission looked to be working fine in the Ram in the video.
