Bill was by far the better orator of the three.

Three presidents, and the country is still doing this crap. Isn't it about time for an amendment or two?

As seen on other feeds: The gun of choice at the signing of the Constitution was a musket.

Enough.

For a kill count of 200 people over 20 years?

How about no.

Someone did the "war on drugs" version going back to Nixon I think; same message over and over.

That is so not fair. That scorecard only counts CURRENT tyrants. Just how many of the others would have grown up to be tyrants? One? All of them? We can't know.

Can you break it down by race/age/sex via the FBI uniform crime reporting statistics??

I'm not sure comic books count as data......

So your rebuttal is that handgun violence is falling?

Knives killed more people than assault rifles it seems.......

It's not a very common method for intentional homicide, which is what that chart is showing?

Does a candlestick count as a blunt object? Also, where is rope on that graph?

I'm more concerned about where people are being killed. Observatory? Billiard room? Kitchen? Certainly never the hallway.

Perhaps the other question to ask of that graph is how many people were killed at a time per event. The high level of handgun violence means there's a lot of 1-2 people killed per event but the "other guns" may represent greater numbers per event.

Regardless, we're numb to it much as we are deaths from automobile accidents. We kill 45000 a year on the roads in the US -- the same as 13 fully loaded 747s crashing per month for a year.

No one thinks that's a national tragedy we let anyone with a pulse drive a car and allow people have their 6th DUI before we get serious about road safety.

I really should have that tattooed on my ass.

I didn't listen to the speech. Nice, I assume. Comforting maybe. Yes, I am sad for all the lifes lost.

But nothing is going to change, apparently the U.S. like it the way it is.

The ritual is the same as always:

1. Shooting at school/mall/peopled place of your choice.
2. Public outrage.
3. Mourning, speeches about how this needs to stop/how things need to change.
4. Politicians not going to change anything, because, hey, things are not as bad as that, right? And it's not the gun's fault, right? And freedom of speech, right to bear arms, constitution, individual freedom, can't change that, right? And nutjobs are always going to find a way to a gun, so why make it harder for everybody else, right? And I need my job, and the lobbyists money is nice.
5. Rinse, repeat in maybe a year or two or so.

/Yes, I mourn for those killed. Doesn't change any of the above.

I am aware of "criminal" and "justifiable" but have never heard of "intentional". What is that?
