erg every time I see Shetland pony I think about a movie a long time back with shetland ponies and leprechauns. i can't for the life of me remember what it was called. any farkers remember? i think it was a holiday movie of some kind. super fuzzy memory of it.

No joke - I've never seen a ticket inspector in any other part of Germany, but I was checked twice in Berlin. But it still can't match Budapest, where I was checked 5 times on a single trip.

Yeah, the S-Bahn. Back in Occupation days a lifetime ago, Allied personnel & their families were forbidden to use the S-Bahn. It ran at least 50% above ground, so being only partly subway, According To The Maps, in both East & West. Had a Shetland pony been taken aboard the U-Bahn in W Berlin, it might not have created such a stir.

Almost all of the S-Bahn is above ground.
The only longer stretch which isn't and that comes to mind right now is the one where that video was taken: the part of the S1/S2 which goes through the center of the city (between Yorckstrasse and Humboldthain)
