At the very least, Siffy will probably remove John Leeson's voice and replace it with David Brierly's.

Really?!? K-9?!?

Of all the fascinating things in the Doctor Who universe, they pick THAT as something worthy of a spinoff?

Didn't they already try this 30 years ago? I seem to recall watching one episode of a K-9 spinoff around about the Tom Baker years. It was terrible, even by my little kid standards.

I read this as "John Lennon's voice." Combine that with the headline and...

... Yeah, I would probably watch a show about John Lennon's postmortem wrestling career.

If you watch the opening credits to K9 and Company, it gives one the impression the show is about a cute young British woman who is being stalked by a sinister robot dog.

Cheap to produce, should easily turn a profit from ad revenue thanks to Doctor Who fans, will run for at least one season - it's practically made for SyFy, because it fits Bonnie Hammer's profile for SyFy programming. Doesn't matter if it sucks, as long as it's profitable.

Well they will have Warehouse 13 and Alphas back eventually but otherwise there aren't many reasons. No more Eureka, no more SG series, no more BSG series, they no longer play reruns of other good sci-fi like Star Trek, Farscape, etc. Bonnie Hammer has driven the network into the ground with ghosts, wrestling and shiatty original movies, although every now and then they do a decent movie.

The same folks that are planning to watch the Esquire Channel for gaming, The Learning Channel for education, and the Science Channel for scientific information, apparently.

In other words, the folks who don't realize that all of these niche channels are now fighting for the same, or roughly the same, demographics, because it's about profit, not programming. They're fighting to stay alive & relevant, not to stay true to their original premises.

You can thank "the Bravo effect", and dollar-minded folks like Bonnie Hammer, for this mess.

No, it's a Baker-era Doctor Who K-9 who winds up regenerating into a new form. Plus, John Leeson is doing the voice, so it's K-9.

But the show doesn't really mention the Doctor Who connection... for legal reasons, IIRC.

However, it's not like Good Times ever mentioned Maude again after they spun off.

And apparently showing anything even remotely sci-fi is such a horrible experience for the people in charge at the network, that they decided to get it all out of the way in one swoop. Much in the same vein as chugging some horrible medicine or ripping off a bandaid. They spent money on it and they are going to blow the whole wad on one day? Awesome business decision.

A wrestling ghost...from outer space that helped build the pyramids, but whose nuclear power mutated ancient Earth animals and hid them all throughout the world in various deep ocean trenches and caves, from whence they will emerge to cause the apocalypse, subby.

On a completely unrelated note, did anybody notice that Netflix is now streaming "Classic Dr. Who" as an entire series, instead of just sprinkling random four parters around the listings? It's nice to be able to just have the one thing on the queue and go relatively in order, although there's obviously quite a few gaps since there's only 75 eps total.
