It will be played in reruns for the next 15 years.

So what.

2012-12-15 03:11:42 PM
Yes, but in an alternate universe it's the top rated show of all time.

2012-12-15 03:18:55 PM
Hate the entire premise of the final season, so I stopped watching. I really wish the show ended after the third season.

2012-12-15 03:20:04 PM
I love Anna Torv, but I sort of stopped caring about the show after they did the fast forward to the future dystopia. The fun of the show was crazy things happening in an otherwise normal world.

It's not being canceled, it's exiting gracefully. And by gracefully I mean "with a bullshiat premise that isn't in keeping with the existing themes of the show."

Better late than... well, scratch that.

The problem I have had with Fringe for the last few seasons is that they have changes the premise and the universe so much each time it takes way too long to figure out what's going on now, and trying to explain the seasons to someone well, that's damn near impossible.

See we had two universes, and people could go back and forth between them, and then there was a war because the physics of the whole thing caused chaos and destruction, and then the universes split, and a third one came into being, and we're not sure which one it was and we're in the future, maybe, but some people remember back to the first season when we only had one universe and other people remember more....and okay, if we're in the future, how come Broyles didn't age even though he wasn't ambered like everybody else?

He's an observer that fell asleep under a tanning light.

Come on, don't tell me you people didn't enjoy Walter tripping out last night.

the fact it's at it's best in 2 years helps

although they should have given Olivia the observer implant plus a few doses of cortexephan.

god mode!

THIS. I was wondering how many episodes are left considering its all dragged this season. If this was where they were heading all along, I'm glad it's ending.

I dunno what show you guys were watching because the Broyles I saw looked far older than the one from previous seasons.

The main reason the show has lasted as long as it has is that they producers had the foresight to hire
Rupert Murdoch's daughter-in-law as their lead.

This season has been really bad, I've totally lost interest in the show.

The biggest mistake the show made was in not making it clear early on in season four that the old universes and characters were gone and never coming back. We spent the vast majority wondering when Peter would get back to his own world and when we'd get our original characters back and then...it just never happened. Sure, new Olivia got old Olivia's memories, but it just wasn't quite the same. They basically just killed their entire cast of characters and brought in new characters with the same names and actors. It just didn't work.

True. I had a friend who was going to start watching and I told him he could go ahead and skip the first few seasons because they don't really matter at all anymore.

Fringe is one of my favorite shows.

That being said they've almost killed Olivia's character this season by wasting her as a subplot. She has literally been killed in this show a few times and I was less upset then than I am now.

2012-12-15 04:43:53 PM
I keep hoping they'll find one more excuse to travel to the alternate (red?) universe, because I couldn't get enough of that.

2012-12-15 04:48:08 PM
I just started watching the show from the beginning a month or so ago. I figured since it got a final season to wrap things up, it might be worth a go afterall. I just finished season four and I'm very happy with things so far. My only complaints would be completely losing the characters of seasons one to three. Seems like kind of a waste, particularly in resetting Walter at the beginning of four.

I'm still going to catch up and finish the series, but from what I'm hearing I'm not too optimistic about the current season.

Last season was it for me, once it jumped back and forth between timelines and universes. I was done. But at least it's getting a better sendoff unlike that one show geeks still weep over...

The Lone Gunmen.

I have enjoyed the entire show. Walter Bishop is one of my favourite television characters.

I've been enjoying Dark Matters on the Science Channel, hosted by Noble. Even when not in character, it's like the guy was born to play a mad scientist. I'd love to see him as a downright villainous mad doc in a movie.

Oh, suck it! This season has been solid and last night's episode was excellent.

Btw, I'm guessing the Observer kid is somehow a time tossed September.

2012-12-15 05:14:07 PM
Ill miss this show, wish they could have explored the fact that the book WB wrote was fiction but brought into reality.

It's the "We need 100 episodes for syndication" season, Think Chuck. 1's ok, 2-3 are great, 4 was kinda ok, 5 was/is terrible.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. It's still a good show. Not as good as it was in season two or season three (especially the run from about "Jacksonville" through "Entrada"), but it's still fun and quirky, even if it's lost the mission a bit.

I was disappointed with the plotline, but I watched until their 2-month hiatus in season 4 after Ep 7. Never went back.

I lost interest after they played the "Peter never existed" card. Haven't seen one second of the last two seasons.

She's Rupert Murdoch's ex-wife's niece - the ex-wife is her dad's sister. She's been estranged from her dad since she was a kid, so probably not much contact with the evil empire.

I was watching simply because it was the final season, but now I question my motives.

The show was pretty good the first couple of seasons when they were investigating weird shiat going on, but once they branched off into that non stop alternate universe crap and then whats going on this season it's just become shiat.

2012-12-15 05:47:16 PM
Guilty as charged. I just started watching it on the science channel, catching up on Tuesday nights.

That was what I wanted to see this last season, especially after Etta died, her go Dark Phoenix on the Observers.

Could still happen, maybe?

I was interested in the premise for season 5--that they basically become terrorists, but it doesn't seem like they're taking that angle at all. That's a shame, because it would have worked pretty well--that they use all of the bioweapons and genetically engineered beasties they met in the first few seasons to destroy the observer dudes.

/haven't seen season 5 yet
//or season 4 for that matter

I stopped at Season 2. ( no cable TV anymore, and over-the-air reception is awful since every station switched to HDTV broadcasting)

Hope it hits Netflix, then I can catch up on it...

Most of the time I've watched this season, I've been distracted by other things, so I have no idea what's even happening this season. Maybe it's just my lack of attention, but the plot seems to be all over the farking place.

The plot couldn't be more straightforward. Put together the elements of Walter's plan. If anything, it's been very focused compared to other seasons.

Other than what I've read and the clips I've seen ... the trailer for season 5 pointed in the direction that I outlined above.
