Curse you and your self-deprecating British humor!

Well, that virtually assures he will be back, with probably hilarious results.

2012-12-15 06:03:06 PM
He's so charmingly befuddled

2012-12-15 06:29:24 PM
He has not been relevant for a long time.

I'd imagine the Elizabeth Hurley thing stings more.

People admitting to their mistakes? When did this start happening?

That was the best possible response he could have had. That guy must have a good publicist.

Now in the street there is violence

An' an' a lots of work to be done

No place to hang all our washing

An' an' I can't blame all on the sun.

Like when he went through with his appearance on Leno right after the hooker arrest. Best way to defuse the incident, as much as it could be defused.

I was going to say the same. Though I wonder how much is sincere and how much is just attempted damage control.

Oh give him the benefit of the doubt. Does no good to think less of the guy.

There's a much better British Hugh that can go on The Daily Show instead.

Grant reportedly didn't like a clip from his film "Did You Hear About the Morgans?" that the publicist provided the show with, and complained, 'What is that clip? It's a terrible clip,' to which Stewart replied, "Well, then make a better f***ing movie."

Hugh Grant = smart. Jon Stewart is the last person on earth one wants to get in a pissing contest with.

I dunno about that. Fewer people take him seriously, but I think Colbert would take the disagreement and ride that horse until it died, then beat it for a few more years.

The opportunity to appear in public and apologize to someone as popular as John Stewart is the best thing that's happened to him in years.

And I guarantee that is exactly what him and his publicist discussed moments before he made this comment/apology.

I think Hugh Grant is just spiffy. I don't really care about the guy himself, it's a word association thing. Every time someone mentions his name I think of Elizabeth Hurley's sweet sweet hnnngggg oh man what was I just talking about?

When you can piss off Jon Stewart so much that you're banned from TDS, you have to hit a target the size of a quarter from 5000 miles away.

Probably softening things up for when he pimps "Bridget's Jones's Baby" next fall.

with this new conciliatory admission, might Stewart change his mind about never letting Grant back on the show?

I dont know. Somebody should pass him a note in gym.

And if you recall his strategy then was to own up to the whole thing and say he's sorry and he'll change. I think that's how he kept Liz as long as he did.

I saw "About a Boy" tonight for the first time since its release in 2002. It's still a damn good movie.Very witty and sad. And Hugh was pretty darn good in it.

As much as I love to roll around in cynicism the way a pig rolls in its own filth - for some reason this strikes me as genuine.

Maybe I'm losing my edge.

Maybe, but it's entirely possible she cut off the punani, which is the usual reason for this type of "how could you be such an idiot?".

Yeah, girls like that know they can do pretty much whatever the fark they want and call the shots in their relationships. And if you're a male star who likes farking, eventually you're going to look somewhere else. I don't know that I'd go "streetwalker" in my extra-marital wanderings, though.

It's hard to know what's rumor and what's true, but Hurley has been said to have a voracious appetite for sex and an interest in spanking (although I don't know if she liked giving or receiving.) I don't think that "cutting off" sex would have been her relationship gambit of choice.

I'd love to write it off as an actor past his prime tossing out an apology to remain relevant for a few seconds longer, but he never struck me as the kind of guy to get all that worked up about it. As a result it seems alot more genuine.

Real or not I think it's a nice example of those who tend to lose touch with reality acting downright normal. So good for him.

It'd also make for a nice bit on The Daily. Not as funny as Steve Carrel when he came back but still, it has significant potential.

2012-12-16 11:35:35 AM
He made one good movie and Andie MacDowell was the best part of it.

STFU

Well, admittedly, I almost half expected someone to reply that Hugh was American

/though I thought taking a shot had both Fry and Laurie might keep that from happening.

It's funny that 3 days of beard growth is the equivalent of removing glasses and letting hair down for a woman.
