It's not their fault. They don't know their begging for a hate group.

Or we be in a troll thread.

Proud To Be A Doggie From Muskogee

We poop on the sidewalks in Muskogee;
We don't take our trips on a leash
We howl and fight out on Main Street;
We like livin' right, and bein' free.

I'm proud to be an doggie from Muskogee,
A place where even pitbulls keep their balls
We still chase cars down by the courthouse,
And bitin' a postman's still the biggest thrill of all

We always make a party out of lovin';
We like ruttin' out in the open;
Doin' it doggie out in the street;
Gettin' stuck for an hour after still's a treat

Unless I refuse to click on a Salvation Army link. Then I won't see it.

/just because someone claims that they're a religious group, that doesn't mean I am required to turn a blind eye to their shenanigans
//threatening to close over a thousand soup kitchens if they're forced to give spousal benefits to the partners of gay employees? TOTES "love thy neighbor!"
///refusing to help a homeless gay couple unless they break up and "renounce" homosexuality? TOTES "judge not, lest ye be judged!"
////yet, somehow I'M the hater

So we should support a hate group, because there isn't enough hate going around? Irony.

Gooddammitsomuch! A couple weeks ago I saw a lengthy tumblr post by a Salvation Army shelter worker that said that nobody prevents anyone from getting food at shelter based on sexual orientation and the boots on the ground don't care. It is just the top brass whose old and cranky, and going to retire soon, so it doesn't matter. But now I can't find it, because tumblr.

In my area, some of the Salvation Army people were among the first to help AIDS patients abandoned by their families.
So calling every person who helps out with the Salvation Army a 'bigot' is a tad extreme, no?

/yes, I realize each local branch can vary

Exactly.

I am done donating money to any religious charities whatsoever at this point. Makes it a lot easier to avoid mistakenly giving my money to organizations with primitive values. Plenty of other groups out there who can use the money and won't try and use it to oppress minority groups.

I've been biatching about the Salvation Army's hate for years. I love you Fark. I love you so hard.

That being said, it's such a farking shame they are that way. I'm an atheist, so I'm also not into their whole belief thing...but they do try to do a lot of good, and they do accomplish good things. But I won't give them a farking penny until they stop with their bigotry.

No different than if they did lots of wonderful things...but only for white people. That last part makes you a dick.

I didn't print any this year (and this is not my site...Angelfire, really?? really???) but I do like the idea of dropping Queer dollars into the kettle.

Your dog wants a receipt for tax purposes....

Rufus Lee King: Ok, have I summed up the rest of the thread? Yes, I have. Don't bother to post any more hatred for a charitable organization that helps the downtrodden; I just covered it.

Terrorist organizations will do things to help the down trodden as well. This doesn't change the fact that when they're not doing that they're a bunch of murdering psychopaths.

The Salvation Army will do things to help the down trodden but will also use their power and influence for various hardline Christian causes, such as denying equal rights to homosexuals.

Yet to me the fact that they will accept and then basically trash some things almost bothers me more... If you donate a Harry Potter toy for instance they will smile and nod, hand you the receipt, then take the evil devil spawn toy 'away' somewhere. I would imagine there are plenty of kids that would be delighted to have such an item and if the SA doesn't want it they can just say so when you bring it in.

Yes, we're all equal as long as we're in the circle of victims.

Ultra cool.

2012-12-15 05:55:32 PM
So we're OK with a group raising money in the most obnoxious way possible while openly advocating genocide now? I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Those doggies won't know when to stop taking money.

What proof do you have that the Salvation Army is a hate group? I read about on someone's blog, I read it on Facebook, I read it on Twitter, or a friend sent me an e-mail is not proof.

Fantastic marketing idea for those dog trainers.

/I noticed the collie couldn't seem to figure out where to put the money. Needs more training. Wouldn't hire that woman to train my pet...

When they say that gay people should be killed, that's hate. It's also their official position.
