Missed a fantastic pass from Yaya Toure to set up the first goal. Toon getting hammered.

Thank goodness for footy today. Need to take my mind off yesterday.

FFPL Report - Round 16

Here is your Round 16 FFPL Report.

I retain 1st place, competence being relative in these matters. Lead opened up to 100pts after Cognitive_Displaysia had a bad round - so bad in fact it was a Toon 1-2 briefly as Obamartins occupied second place for a day. At the end of the round, top four places unchanged and all members of the +1000 club. That club could well expand to 6 by the end of the weekend, or be reduced to 2, dependent on results.

At the bottom, we have live players! Our sole Celtic fan Jebdiahbob posted +10, not a bad outcome for only remembering to make a prediction for the bonus 11th game in the round.

Mitchcumstein1 now up to 40th place after a +60 and JosephFinn badly letting down Team Toon.

Clear round-winner was Norfolking_Chance with a respectable +125, despite a -30 for a bad banker on Hammers Vs Liverpool. Only nathanjr posted a three-figure haul otherwise with Stimied_in_a_Rut in 3rd on 95. Nathanjr backed a Fulham home win against NUFC with his banker, yielding 90pts, or 100 more than the top two, who had both gone for a 1-1 draw.

In deficit we had tom_the_servo_bit_me, Cognitive_Displaysia, DesertMoloch and 30/30 on -30, but the outstanding score of the round was by HaywardJablonski, who posted a shrivelling -95 and was only an insurance chip and one goal in the Manc derby away from getting the worst score possible from the round. Naturally he did this when the round had a bonus game in it to get wrong. I think this is a new record for the league?

I'm nestled in the top 2% overall, our top 5 in the top 10% globally - remarkable considering we started a week late. Our median player - HawaiiE is almost exactly median globally. Jediahbob is around the 80th percentile, suggesting significant numbers of zombies!

Nearly a third of Page 2 is populated by Arsenal supporters, carrying real-world form into the fantasy realm. All but one of the Toon and Spurs fans on Page 1. MUFC fans half and half. 100% of AFC Wimbledon supporters in the Top 10.

Four of 5 Old Country players on Page 1, 30/30 the exception. Italy trouncing Mexico.
Nathanjr the big climber, up 7. HaywardJablonski down 5. Page 1/Page 2 membership unchanged.

Banker Bonus club still a very limited membership. Nobiology still President - but didn't use his chip this round. Might be a good move if deliberate? Now four players on a +10 BB - themanofpa, StRalphtheLiar, JuicePats and mitchcumstein1.

Only nine games in this round - Chelsea doing ridiculous things in Japan.

Meanwhile, as promised: Link - see top row, right end for the happiest middle-aged man I've seen in some time!

Don't worry chuck, we're going to be fine.
Glass half full view - what are we missing out on because of our league position?

A good run in the FA Cup will be a better indicator of our season.

Oh I have no fear of actual relegation. That can wait until February. I just hope we can stay in Europa. You try you're ass off to make it into Europe just so you can play bench players so you can rest players to try your ass off to get back into Europe. Makes no sense to me.

The Thursday-Sunday sequence is over for a while. 32 teams left in the Euro - there will come a point where Pardew will have to decide what to prioritise but a grace period before that.

Positions to recruit to in January?

For me:

CB.
Left mid
Second striker.

Those are net of any sales.

Also - I should point out that the gallery I linked is not safe for Puritan workplaces.

I think ba and (hopefully) tiote are gone. Tiotes a great player but I sort of wish we would've sold him for 25 mil when we could've last January. With the terrible season he's had I wouldn't expect more than 10 for him.

I agree about the needs though. But I think we need two of each of those positions which clearly wont happen.

I think Ba will stay. Knee, and the demands of his coterie make him relatively unattractive: Link Also, all the noises about going come from his agent and not from him.

Tiote hasn't had a good season. I think we'd be better off keeping him unless it is a silly offer and I don't see one coming.

Aaand there is the second. I have this one down as a 1-2 loss.

Yeah I agree about ba by I think Liverpool are going to really push hard this year and can probably triple his wages. I know he loves the toon but if we're in the relegation zone and hes looking at 100 a week you think he's really gonna stay?

I had this as a 2-1 loss as well. Looking more like 4-1 now.

Because the Red Bulls play in farking Harrison. To go all the way out there, I might as well be a Sounder fan. The team in flushing will be nice, assuming I'm still here.

I've been believing Wenger the last few seasons when it seemed like maybe we are just a player away from challenging for honors, but I'm your boat now. Too many starters aren't performing consistently and the bench is dreadful. I'm sure the players appreciate his loyalty to them when they're out injured, but they're not repaying his loyalty when their contract is almost up. Waiting for FFP to kick in, they're being lapped by their competitors.  Arsenal is no longer a good team. Nobody is afraid of them and nobody should be. Much as I hate to say it, it's  time to blow up this squad.

I don't know, I think this was the first one I've missed. I'm guessing it just stays 0 for missed games. Maybe we have to turn on some kind of auto-pick in our profiles as a preference.

I was checking players I thought were zombies and they weren't having scores registered - perhaps some other criteria makes the difference - activity, log-in etc?

Yeah, however my previous highest score was 156, so increasing that by 32 was pretty great. The one bad thing is those are the college's bowling lanes so no drinking and no fun animations on TV screens when you bowl. I feel like those two are almost necessary for it to be an official bowling alley.

I am quite proud, can't you tell?

That open frame in the 6th kept you from having a monster score.

Yeah, however my previous highest score was 156, so increasing that by 32 was pretty great. The one bad thing is those are the college's bowling lanes so no drinking and no fun animations on TV screens when you bowl. I feel like those two are almost necessary for it to be an official bowling alley.

A bowling alley without beer is...no, just no.

It's a classy stance to take. Shawcross may be an asshole and deserve it, but that doesn't justify the headbutt.

David Moyes has always been my favorite manager and he shows time and again why. He stays with Everton and always gets them to finish higher than expectations and does so much on so little money. Every year a few of his best players are poached or have to go back on loan and they continue to do well. He is respected by everyone, has an insane amount of class and has never been part of any drama.

Marouane Fellaini has apologised for the headbut.

I apologise completely to Ryan Shawcross, my team-mates and to our fans at the game. I lost my temper and it was unprofessional,
There was a lot of pushing and pulling going on inside the Stoke penalty area and I didn't feel I was getting any protection from the officials.
Nevertheless I know I shouldn't have done what I did. I have also apologised to the manager and the staff - I have no excuses.
I was disappointed with the way I was being treated and I lost my temper, which was unprofessional of me.

If only a number of teams (alot of who play in red) had this much class when it comes to owning up to mistakes.

I haven't gotten my reminder email for the past two weeks come to think of it. I usually do my picks Thursday or Friday after reading some prediction article's to get a better idea of some teams I don't follow so close.

I've always like how literal Swansea's logo is. But I'm a Spurs fan, so COYS!

Swansea's keeper nearly took a rifle shot to the face, there.

Where the hell was this organization and focus last week, Swansea? I put my banker on you to handle Norwich easily and that's the week you decided to choke.

I have 3-2 so I knew that wasn't going to happen a long time ago. Now I just have my fingers crossed for goal difference...

If WBA West Ham can end 2-1 it'll be a good day.

Tottenham fans: thoughts on AVB so far? A bit mixed? Willing to give him time to build something? Happy he's taking the Europa seriously? 4th is surely achievable. Maybe 3rd ;-)

I can think of one FC that is an East, at least one that is a North, but NONE that are a South.

I mean as in distinguishing it from main X - if it were South Hampton near North Hampton I'd accept it [Northampton is 95 miles from Southampton. I'm sure there is a German team that would qualify but I can't bring the name to mind

I'm tempted to nominate as Worst Game of Season.

Have it down as a 1-1 draw - Spuds gave me another 15pts.

Wiggins the bookies favourite.

I'm going with Mo. Ennis 2nd. Wildcard - they split the prize this year.

Its a wide open field of excellence (as opposed to the normal mediocrity). Any other year getting the US Open would make Murray automatically get it. This year he will be lucky to get into the top half of contenders

I recon Wiggins will get it with Mo and Ennis for a 2-3. Team GB will get the team award over Paralympics GB, the England Cricket team and Chelsea

50p sez they combine Para/Olympic teams together for the team of the year award. Ryder Cup team get brief mention.

Wiggins will get it, just barely beating out Andy Murray (who I think should get it) with Ennis getting 3rd.

/Is there anyone on the shortlist other than McIlroy who doesn't have an Olympic/Paralympic tie in?

Correct draw and correct GD with a banker bonus. Pretty good weekend for me again this week. Should be at +85 or +90 depending on if I get the banker bonus or not (got the banker correct last week as well). Have Arsenal beating reading 2-1 tomorrow. May actually get to the top of page 2!

Lots of relatively big gaps between the top teams across the main European leagues. I'm sure it means something. Probably not something good.

United 42
City 36
Chelsea 29
Spurs 29

Barcelona 46
Atletico 37
Real Madrid 33
Malaga 28

Bayern Munich 42
Bayer Leverkusen 33
Borussia Dortmund 30
Eintracht Frankfurt 30

Juventus 41
Inter 34
Napoli 33
Lazio 33

This is how low my confidence is in Arsenal: I put my insurance chip on them to beat a team that is dead last in the Premier League and has only managed one win all season.I've never been this pessimistic, but after they just lost to a team two full divisions below them, I no longer know what to expect.

Fellaini accepts violent conduct charge and will be suspended for three games. Rumours that he will serve the classiest suspension in Premier League history are so far unconfirmed.

I have this down as an away win - but what do I know?
Arsene can come and manage my team anytime.

I do like Arsene. I understand what management is doing financially, but having the team play so poorly so often is difficult to watch. The reality is that players aren't that interested in playing for the Gunners right now, and that's difficult for me to swallow.

Real Madrid are third in the table behind Athletico Madrid. But Barça have all but won La Liga. The top four race will be interesting in Spain.

I've got it as a 0-2 win for Arsenal...but I gotta admit, I almost put my insurance chip on this after they screwed me the last couple of times.

And away they go. Arsenal gives up two quick ones in the second half to make it 4-2
