Feel good story. Need more of these after today.

He should feel the full weight of the law.

Seriously, that's a lot of donuts. Kudos to the cop.

And by "hands the man $100 bill" the writer means "Tazed his ass and threw him violently to the ground."

Did the hero tag get shot by some other cops subby?

I had the same damn thing happen to me. I was just out of my divorce, destitute, and trying to feed two kids. Tabs didn't get paid. Driving on them ment my license got suspended. Moving a lot, and sleeping in my car sometimes, meant I never got the notices.

I got arrested, and ended up paying about $1200 in fines, along with 80 hours of community service. She went to Vegas twice a year on the child support money.

Evidently, you haven't seen the pay scales for police in your area. Here in Minnesota, they rival small-town bank president salaries.

Has to be the same cop that gave the homeless man boots. It is highly improbable that there is more than one decent cop.

In Northeast Tennessee it's like working at McDonald's, but you have a company car and a better spatula.

$100 for a $500 ticket. Ultimate troll.

This is news because normally the $100 bills in tickets are going from John Q Public to Officer Friendly.

This is like a long running logical debate ..

never mind.

1] I don't think it's outside of a code of conduct for a police officer to give someone money, seeing as this guy is not a criminal, not involved in a criminal investigation, and does not have a position of power or other relationship with the police.
2] Only high-rollers carry c-notes.
3] How much was the ticket for, or was it just a warning, like "was on way to DMV, guy looks legit."

What, like his sticker flew off and he has to get a new one? I don't think the generic traffic tickets have those.

I'd rather go to my local convienience store if I want to win a lottery. Not get pulled over while I'm doing something important to me, by an armed someone that may have a stick up their ass. Oh, plus their word has full weight of authority.

$100 is cheap PR though.

Don't know the specifics but there's a good chance the judge will dismiss it. In this area if you get a ticket for a headlight out or whatever, as long as you get it fixed quickly they'll usually dismiss it.

No reg is generally a fix-it ticket. Probably w/ a cost of $25 (that's what it cost me last year).

FTFA: "Registration is valid for one year in Texas and costs $50.75"

GOD DAMN IT TO FARKING HELL! I've got a 16 year old truck and the Sacramento vampires are still charging me $200 every farking year. And recently some Democrat asshole wanted to farking TRIPLE the car registration fee. Yeah, farkers, dump on the poor some more. Sheesh! Where's OBL when you need him? Sacramento needs to be nuked. (I keed).

End rant.

On the other hand, I've got nothing but love in my heart for the 7 Garden Grove cops that gave us $125 one evening.

Most courts in Texas will dismiss a ticket like this if the violation is corrected within 10 days of receiving the ticket.

Lots of ignorant Farkers in this thread. Things like no insurance, no reg, broken tail-light, etc are fix-it tickets, and eitehr cost zero or a nominal amount, like $25.

The ignorance is understandable, I guess, since I'm pretty sure that a lot of you aren't old enough to drive.
