andrewagill: andrewagill: LemSkroob: Cool of them to even leave the zip code off (till someone at the post office wrote it on there), since they werent used in full force untill the 60s

This should be the biggest tip off. This came through the mail from someone who either wasn't paying attention or got the joke. It's unlikely to be from inter-office mail.

Actually, now that I look closer, those stamp cancellations are not USPS cancellations, which implies that the package was probably sent by a postal worker who dropped it in a bin at a point where international mail enters the US system or where it leaves one post office and enters another. If it had come in to the 60637 PO, they wouldn't have bothered writing the ZIP code, and if it had turned up in a mail collection box, they would have probably seen the cancelled stamps and tossed it.

they could just track it:

Blathering Idjut: That replica ususally goes for upwards of $400. I can't believe somebody just threw it in the mail.

I have a buddy who is an expert in replicas, let me give him a call, and have him take a look at it
