She's 31. On her 10th kid. That's almost one-quarter of her life pregnant. If you presume she couldn't get pregnant in the first twelve or so years--perhaps a stretch, to be sure--it jumps to nearly half of her adult life.

Unbelievable.

Yeah, in this case it is.

This is why in a DUI wreck with injuries, they'll arrest the guy after he's at the hospital, or if he refuses care and transport - because they're not responsible for the tens of thousands of dollars in care they will rack up until he's in custody.

Tie her tubes now. People like this should not continue to plonk out. She has nothing to contribute to society and yet feels entitled to live off the dole.

I think I get it, Brony. People who are most in need of medical help and the least likely to be able to afford it themselves are the least deserving of free healthcare.

Well, the hospital bill for a simple vaginal birth is about $9,000, so she's already spent at least $81,000 on birthing children. No wonder she's poor and shoplifting! Ain't nobody got cash for that!

Add to that she most likely wanted to be jailed to have this next kid so everything was covered (via taxpayers)... and she has her 11 yr old shoplifting for her?

seriously unbelievable.

Forced sterilization for some people is long overdue. Yeah, i know ethics, blah blah blah.

But I think things like repeatedly having children while already on assistance and doing drugs while pregnant should forfeit ones right to continue to reproduce.

Not in Canada. Her cost of birthing is $0.00, other than whatever bus fare to get to the doctor for her appointments. Having a pretty steady stream of new babies would help keep her from getting a job, and of course feeding and clothing nine kids without a job might help keep her poor and shoplifting....

In Canada, when there is a lawsuit connected to medical injuries, the health system (such as OHIP) is automatically part of the lawsuit. If the defendant loses, some of the money goes to paying the medical bills of the victim.

Well she can't be above the Low Income Cut Off (poverty line) in Saskatoon if she is on any form of welfare. In fact, chances are they are living somewhere around half or 3/4 of the LICO! It's a good thing that the health care system covers her kids because she sure as hell can't (both with her income and her obvious psychopathy). The social work agencies for youth in the prairie provinces are not very well funded or staffed, though, so we can be pessimistic about the sort of care the kids will get when she is in prison, or when they find foster homes. If they find foster homes.

As a woman whose womb is a rocky place where my husband's seed can find no purchase, this shiat always pisses me off. We blew 20 grand on one shot of in vitro and realized the obvious - it wasn't meant to be. I'm an evolutionary dead end. Which kind of sucks because we are actually pretty cool, smart, loving and well rounded people and the fruit of our loins would have been really good additions to humanity. I have a son (stepson) who had a crazy egg donor/"mother" that came to live with us at just the right time - aged 13 - and he's thriving - he calls me mom and I am his mom, dammit, so I can't complain. He is a really fine young man. But damn. These freakin' alley cats breed like crazy. I am seriously considering the foster parent program, but do I sound like an asshole if I can't commit to a damaged kid who will be a fulltime job? I am no therapist - just a woman who should have had a child.

There is an organization doing just that. They pay junkies to get sterilized. If you like what they do, go ahead and donate. God knows we don't need more of these people. I'd like to see them branch out and pay for abortions, as well, but given how controversial they already are I don't see that happening soon.

When did it become controversial to think that certain people who are a drain on society shouldn't be allowed to breed? Why is that such a crazy stance? I don't get it.

It's because WW2 turned 'eugenics' into a bad word. There's no distinction made between coercive eugenics like extermination campaigns or forced abortion and non-coercive eugenics like what project prevention is doing. It's truly sad that a scientific discipline with real hope of improving our lives and raising up our species was destroyed by a miscarriage of history.

Or it could be that Eugenics was a complete pseudoscience with roots in ignorance, antisemitism, racism, and the belief in superiority by what region of Europe you hailed from, that had no idea about how genetic and epigenetic factors, as well as intrauterine factors contributed to what happened after the baby was delivered.

That too.
