The football will have to be shared equally. And those fanny-pats will turn out to be kind of gay.

Unfounded fearmongering? In MY WND?

2012-12-12 02:28:02 PM
I loved the part where they used a quote from a head trauma expert, then contrasted it with a quote from drug addict Rush Limbaugh.

Diogenes: Unfounded fearmongering? In MY WND?

Hardly unfounded. Rush Limbaugh is concerned.

Roger Goodell is doing a good enough job destroying the NFL all by himself. If you will recall, his latest fevered brainstorm is a 4th and 15 in lieu of the kickoff.

2012-12-12 02:43:31 PM
Good, lets get rid of yet another divisive part of the human landscape that not only breeds tribalistic rivalries that we as a species should have outgrown hundreds of years ago, but also makes the rich richer on the public dime as cities bankrupt themselves to build monuments to violence and showmanship, and we can put the money blown on high school football to what matters, education.

2012-12-12 02:49:01 PM
To quote two guys who got fired from their NFL announcing gigs, football is doomed.

2012-12-12 02:50:44 PM
This is just another in Obama's schemes to give preference to his favourite sport, African Handball.

Stupid fat f*ck is really running out of things to get hysterically outraged about, isn't he?

Once he takes football away, there will be no stopping him. Then he's going to come after ultimate frisbee and disc golf and you libs will really be sorry then.

He's going to substitute soccer for football, since soccer is socialist.

Dude, ultimate frisbee is the ultimate stoner game, and Obama used to be a stoner, so he probably love that shiat.

Not having had the benefit of ocular ingestion of our dear author's careful missive, I had assumed this proposed rule was what he was bleating about.

If it's not the proposed Kickoff of Fail, what are they hyperventiating about

Actually that is Greg Schiano's idea (and while I normally have no problem with the guy, this idea just sucks), not Fidel Goodell's.

Except it wasn't his, it was Greg Schiano's. And he wasn't advocating for it, he was citing it as an example of an alternative to kickoffs that had been submitted to the Competition Committee.

I like how Bob Costas, a newspaper mommy-columnist and a brain trauma expert are now the government.

2012-12-12 04:12:06 PM
Veteran NBC sportscaster Bob Costas appeared Monday night on CNN to discuss problems in the National Football League, and was asked if the league is at a breaking point.

"It's a legitimate question to ask whether, for some players at least, the toll that the game takes, brain trauma, medications that they may take, enhance performance or deal with pain, all those things. The culture of the league increases the likelihood of abhorrent behavior. It's possible," said Costas.

Limbaugh reacted to Costas' remarks by saying, "They're going to guilt us into taking too much pleasure from taking pain medications. And wait 'til they throw the sex trafficking in there which will happen, too."

I haven't watched the NFL since they banned crackback blocks, leg whips, and nunchucks. It's a woman's game now.

A WND article relying on the brain power of Rush Limbaugh and Dennis Miller.

Maximum derp.

I liked the ad on the side of the article:

37 things you SHOULD hoard!!!!

I cant think of 37 things I need, let alone hoard...

Romney was the one who was going to change football since Mormons are not allowed to work on Sundays. He was also going to take our liquor and beer and replace it with watered down beer and liquor vouchers.

2012-12-12 04:48:14 PM
Well that's one way to put Chiefs fans out of their misery.

Yeah but Paul Ryan once rushed for 4000 yards in a football game.

2012-12-12 04:48:56 PM
Why would Obama need to do anything? I think Goodell's doing a fine job by himself.

That was on a Saturday.

It's not Obama, it's private lawsuits that will kill the sport off, at least at the high school and college level.

2012-12-12 04:49:39 PM
It's OK, if they take away football I'm sure all the football players will easily be able to find new jobs with the fine educations they received.

2012-12-12 04:50:03 PM
The NFL is concerned about cumulative head injuries and wants to prevent excessive spinal damage in its players....and somehow this is Obama's fault.

Wow.

Never seen ultimate players toking on the field, then doing all that running.
Disc golf, on the other hand....the tee box is like frikkin' Amsterdam.
Couple of guys I played with last week brought a damn huge bong in a case.

Killing off football would be a great thing for University education in this country.

The only way he'd come after football is to issue an executive order to fire Lovie Smith, which I would support wholeheartedly.

2012-12-12 04:51:56 PM
Good. Make weed legal or we take football. Then when football fans complain, I can smugly dismiss them by saying, "Oh, they're just criminals, trying to legalize their criminal behavior."

I like this idea. I don't like the new kickoff rules since returns are so rare. But honestly, if you can't put any of your good players on something that happens 4 times a game because it's too dangerous, something has to change.

Or they could just put a weight limit on certain positions like they do with every other violent sport.

I wonder if Belcher was on anything... like anti-depressants or other "ma'm, your son is a bit slow/hyper" drugs...

Seems today, schools, Dr's, & authority are quick to medicate America's kids

Good point, but I still want to blame Goodell. He's got such a punchable face.

If the NFL went away, what would all the script writers do?

Maybe. You could make a case that it does help keep marginal schools in business since it is usually revenue positive

I like to envision football evolving into the game they were playing in Starship Troopers.

/would not be surprised to see it morph into 7-on-7 passing competitions with no run after the catch and no tackling

2012-12-12 04:56:31 PM
Shouldn't American conservatives be all for that?

Isn't American football rather communistic compared to real football? What with the draft to make things 'fair' and no real chance of failure for losing teams by being relegated. It all sounds very much like something a true conservative should be appaled by.
