It's almost worth it to move to Kentucky just to vote against him.

/He's toxic.

Couldn't this guy just relocate McConnell to a place where he won't harm anyone?

Eh. The last third is usually backwash

zappaisfrank: McConnell flushed all credibility during his stunt last week where he ended up filibustering his own bill. Not only was that a grand stunt that went down in massive flames, he showed that he either has no idea what the debt ceiling is actually for, or he was playing to the sub-literate masses within the base that think the debt ceiling is about new spending!

He's a clown....Jon Stewart does an awesome impression of him, too.

Or he was playing to his mind-numbingly ignorant constituents.

Hey.

Has anyone ever pointed out that Mitch McConnell looks a bit like a turtle?

2012-12-12 01:32:04 PM

BMulligan: snack for later? I just don't know.

That's the hole the tongue comes out of, like with snakes. Some snappers have these little brightly colored wormy tongues that they use as lures to attract fish, then the jaws snap shut.

You want to see something crazy, check out the inside of a leatherback sea turtle's mouth.

As long as Obama doesn't get re-re-elected in 2016, McConnell will be satisfied.

I had my pic taken with Mitch several weeks ago at his senate office in DC. Looking forward to receiving it so I can hang it on the wall and throw things at it.

No, they've been trying to get KENTUCKIANS to vote in their better interest. I hate to seem so hateful of my home state, but remember, Kentucky sided with the Confederacy after -- AFTER -- the Civil War. Think about that one for a minute. Yes, we have our geniuses, but for every Wendell Berry, Louis Brandeis, Thomas Merton, there are countless others who made this a reality:

Oh, and the governor who offered millions in tax cuts to the snake oil salesman behind this garbage? A farking Democrat.

I guess you're right. It's been my home all my life, and I wish it would do more for itself, but I fear it's headed for a race to the bottom like the rest of the developing states as governments of all political leanings drop to their knees for anybody promising "JERBS," even if they're just a penny above slave wages. Meanwhile, my fellow statesmen embrace this wilfull ignorance and quickness to violence all in the name of some farking retarded "GITRDONE" caricature of what a "real 'murkin" is supposed to be; and they're willing to keep turning it into a pit of ignorance for the sake of "stickin' it to dem libs."

OK, which state is accomplished proofreaders with an English degree?
Thought so...
We shall sing once more for my old Kentucky home...

Yes, I recognize the irony there.

Not hating on you personally and not denying the problems that exist, just saying... You could tone it down sometimes. Hell, Kentucky's not even my native land, adopted home, but I wouldn't throw it under the bus. No need for a personal dig.

You apparently don't live in a rural area. I live in a small-ish town (maybe 20K people), but the hospital I work for draws in people from allllll kinds of places. I tell ya, people from Beauty or Lovely.... aren't. We had to widen our doorways, and it's not because of the wheelchairs.

The left (such as it is here) hates his policy positions in general. The far-right social conservative/Freeper contingent sees him as a plutocrat compromiser who doesn't push their pet issues strongly enough. The (smaller but fast-growing) pseudo-libertarian Republican faction in the state sees him as being too much a symbol of the old guard. See also some of his early clashes with Rand Paul, when the latter first took office.

But, at the same time, loud opposing voices tend to cancel each other out. McConnell is the Republican establishment here. No one's happy with him, but he's massively entrenched, knows all the systems forward and backward, and there's very little chance of the state as a whole agreeing on anyone to oust him.

make me some tea: Too bad they didn't feel this way about him BEFORE THEY REELECTED HIM

In their defense, it's hard to make a turtle leave quickly. It just takes a while.

No, there really is. I completely understand the frustration. I grew up near Lexington. I've seen the problems Kentucky faces, and I see how the residents will consistently vote against their self interest. Eventually, I couldn't take it. I escaped. And when I go back, I see dead eyes and tired souls in the natives. There's not a lot of hope there, and even less desire for betterment.

Ignorance is entirely too celebrated.
