GO BLUE

/That's all I have to say about that

I guess this means that the covert pipeline of booster money into local Detroit high school players pockets has been firmly re-established.

I've always enjoyed the hypocrisy of UoM, who tout their high academic standards as a badge of honor and reject thousands of otherwise excellent and qualified students, while at the same time accepting a bunch of functionally illiterate retards on the basis of their ability to put a ball through a hoop.

/trolling just a little.

Every school does that hypocrisy thinger... oh thanks for being up front about it. Anyways Big Ten opener is still more than 2 weeks away so let them ride high. All bets are off during conference play, just wish we hadn't lost to the U...ugh

Yes, Michigan should apply that criteria to their general population, so we can have two MSUs

Cherish Trey Burke, LOLVerines. He shouldn't have been in Sun and Blue to begin with, let alone staying after his Freshman year.

The sad thing is that most schools with strong sports programs avoid the hypocrisy by being a bunch of functionally illiterate retards through and through. I'm not sure which is better.

How do you get excited for a team that will be a third seed in the conference tourny?

In the B10 conference this year, I'd imagine most B10 teams would be happy with that given the competition. In the rankings right now...

1 Indiana
3 Michigan
7 Ohio State (1 loss to Duke)
10 Illinois (woo! not gonna last but it's nice to see them in rankings once again while it lasts)
14 Minnesota (1 loss to Duke)
17 MSU

Pretty tough conference I'd say. I think ILL, MSU, maybe Minny still overrated, haven't watched enough of IU, UM, OSU yet. But should be some great basketball to watch in a couple weeks come conference time.

Blame your coaches who didn't think he was good enough to warrant an offer (and it isn't like they never saw him considering he played on Sullinger's high school team).

Michigan's recruiting the last few years has mostly been a list of guys who were 3-star guys who weren't getting major conference offers or at least not many, got offered by Michigan and committed, and then either blew up on the AAU circuit and rocketed up the recruiting rankings (e.g., Robinson), or simply turned out to be vastly better players than their recruiting rankings once they showed up on campus (e.g., Hardaway, Burke). The only guy who Michigan got a commitment from when he was highly rated already was McGary, and they were on him before he blew up in AAU and rocketed up the rankings, it's likely a big reason they ended up getting him. There's some serious scouting chops on the Michigan staff.

A very fine coach in Beilein, good recruits, players who could have gone pro staying another year, increasing the depth.

Michigan looks very good and will be a tough out for anybody. I say this as an Indiana fan, who may be even better.

As of now I can see both UofM and IU taking #1 seeds in the Tournament.

It's not a stretch to see both of those teams go into the tournament with no more than maybe 4 losses. Last year, Michigan State got a 1 seed with 7 losses and North Carolina got one with 5.

While I haven't really followed college basketball closely in years, it looks like Michigan has improved fairly dramatically under Beilein. Now if they can only win more than one game in the NCAA Tournament.

Meh.

Duke will get a 1 seed if they win either conference crown.

Arizona has nobody else in the PAC-12. They will have a big record.

Same for Floriday in the SEC (Mizzou and Kentucky are at least real teams).

Don't see the B1G getting multiple 1 seeds. More likely one 1 seed and two 2 seeds.

/Arizona-Florida this weekend - huge game.

IU is very legitimate. Too bad we don't have much of a schedule until conference play starts.

Butler isn't as good as they were 2, 3 years ago, but they've got a couple of guys who can go NBA Jam on-fire mode on you from 3, so I wouldn't count that one as a win before it's played.

If they don't fall on their face in conference, they'll deserve a #1 seed. They've beaten more tournament teams in the OOC portion of play than most teams will in the entire regular season. There are 3 teams in the top 13 right now that have their only loss against Duke. That's really damn good.

Yeah I saw the beating, albeit it far inferior that IU dished out, that Butler gave UNC. Butler definitely has some guys who can light up the scoreboard, but IU is shooting ~40% from 3 pt land and Butler is shooting 34%. If they want to go down that road, it's going to be a long game for them. That said, they could surprise some teams in the tourney.
