Yeah, I know - The Cavs got rocked by the Lakers agai... I'm sorry what? C'mon, quit fooling around. Ha ha, I'm not going to fall for that crap again. We suck, we know, we're Cleveland.

HOLY CRAP! CAVS WIN! CAVS WIN! PLAYOFFS BABY!!

The Lakers are like the Yankees. They will still somehow make it to the playoffs and, at least, the conference championship even if they suck.

Christmas would imply it's a rare occasion. The Lakers losing this season is more like a Channukah gift that you feign interest in, knowing you'll get more of the same tomorrow.

Seeing the Lakers lose is almost as much fun as seeing the Cowboys or the Yankees lose.

Every time we have a "Lol Lakers" thread, I feel compelled to point out: Ron Artest is averaging 35 minutes a game for this team. He's also shooting 42% from the floor, and has taken the third most shots on the team.

These are not facts you would associate with a championship-caliber team.

The Lakers turned the ball over 19 times which led to 24 Cavs' points. The Cavs turned the ball over 14 times resulting in 7 Lakers points.

They are not taking advantage of their opponents mistakes.

Jeebus that box score is fascinating:

- D12: 41 minutes, 9 shots, 22 free throws, 20 rebounds.
- Kobe: 28 shots, 2 assists
- Players that were not Kobe, D12, or Metta: 7 baskets
- Chris Duhon: 33 minutes, 2 shots, 2 assists. Did he just pass the ball to Kobe and talk to the official at the scorers table all night?
- Jamison: 3-10, 1-6 3FG, 1 rebound. AND HE'S SCORING THREAT OFF THE BENCH!

Nash still out two weeks, no one wants Pau badly enough to give up any kind of decent deal....it's going to be January and this teams going to still be at like 14-15 wins. Could get very ugly.

Let's not start sucking each other's dicks just yet. I wouldn't be too surprised to see this team gel a bit with Nash in the lineup. Playoffs aren't too difficult to imagine, then who knows? I'm just saying don't blow your hate-wad this early.

The solution is obvious. Mike Brown is waiting for your call, Lakers. He had this team almost .500!

I'm still really hoping we might see Coaching Change #2 before the season's over. Nothing would be better than Buss offering Phil that ownership stake he supposedly wanted in late February, in a desperate attempt to not lose Howard via free agency.

Yes but his offense fits so much better with the Lakers talent! He has a great relationship with Kobe!

Not enough information. Not-Kobe shot 15-47. You can only get an assist if the other guy hits a shot, so you can't tell from the box score if those were the only two passes he made all night or he just kept setting guys up for airballs.

When you make 16 to the rest of the team's 15 on half as many shots, no, there's nothing wrong with that.

js34603: Yes but his offense fits so much better with the Lakers talent! He has a great relationship with Kobe!

Well, the talent he fits best with still hasn't hit the court yet for him. A competent point guard will fix a lot of things, at least on the offensive end.

Gunny Highway: I really dislike Dwight Howard.

I hope they get Jackson and he fails with Howard, too, so maybe people will start coming to the conclusion that Dwight Howard just isn't that damn valuable. Everyone gives him credit for that Finals run in '09, but the Magic around him were a hell of a team.

The Heat didn't have to deal with Father Time at the same level that the Lakers do. I think they can still get it together, but I don't think it's going to be easy, and I think they need a trade to shore up their backup point and backup wings issue.

/I hope they don't figure it out

It's a total, glorious mess.

Kobe has never learned how to be a good teammate. He always had Phil telling him what to do and now that PJ's gone, Kobe's inner Allan Iverson is ripping out of him.

The team is a goddamn mess. They're as slow as any team in the league, their bench is horrid, they've alienated the one player they have who could possibly help in Pau Gasol, and they're hanging their hopes on a geriatric point guard in Nash who never played a lick of defense in his life.

Mike D'Antoni was a risible hire and it gets funnier by the day -- look at the Knicks with a real coach now. A slow, aging, plodding team that has trouble keeping fast players from scoring on them? I KNOW! HIRE MIKE D'ANTONI!

Meanwhile the Spurs are steamrolling to another 63-wins season barely playing their starters more than 32 minutes a game. It is to laugh.

2012-12-12 10:46:07 AM
First, there was Kobe Bryant needing only one more championship to equal Michael Jordan's six, giving those annoying Kobe-homers yet another illogical reason to believe 24 is better than 23.

Two more and Kobe could be as good as Robert Horry. After that he'd have a distant shot at being as good as a half-dozen or so Celtics.

RIF Chumley. There was no NBA "home team" when I was a kid, just ABA. Wasn't jumping ship on my Lakers in 1978 just because Dallas got a franchise & presented a more geographically friendly option. Hell, I went to Spurs basketball camp for 3 years & remained a Laker fan after the ABA/NBA merger. It's about LOYALTY, you geocentric doucheclod.

Lakers BARELY got by a mediocre Denver team. Lakers got killed by OKC. Spurs gave OKC a series but were beat.

How is this hard? Are LAL fans always morons?

But... let's talk about this year, shall we? Spurs are a lock for the playoffs this year. They are near locks for at least the second round, barring problems.

Meanwhile, it is looking increasingly doubtful that the Lakers will even make the playoffs. AND, if they do, they're coming in at a 7 or 8. I can't wait to see the Thunder or Spurs rip their little fly-wings off them and throw them into the dustbin of history.

And yes, LAL fans are almost always morons.

Maybe it's as much fun as watching the Yankees lose, but aside from the clownish Jerry Jones, the Cowboys haven't had an outsized asshole the likes of Kobe since, well, someone help me out here...who was the last outsized Cowboy asshole? I understand residual Cowboys hate, but they've sucked for several years, so it's hard to put them in the same category as the Yankees and Lakers, both of whom are considerably easier to loathe, IMO.

As for Kobe hate, you can't dispute his will to win, but he's just such a irritable douchebag that if he never gets that sixth ring, I will consider that karmic retribution for his nearly unbroken sixteen year record of immaturity. I do enjoy it when he periodically tunes out the dumbasses that comprise the LA basketball media. That makes for good ESPN, if such a thing can be said to still exist.
