Keep your damn stereotypes straight, if the left are a bunch of hoity toity, arugula eating, "I don't even own a television" cultural elite types, then surely theyre not responsible for te creation or having an audience of "here comes honey boo boo".

Sure the local organic coop has gossip rags at the checkout, it's a grocery store, but I bet Walmart has a better selection.

Jesus, I can't even click on 'Thinker' links anymore. Have been burned too many times.

You guys had your chance to persuade me. Instead you just stuck out your lower lip and barked.

So conservatives support state-supported television now?

Ffs. It's ARE You Being Served? and not ALL You Being Served?

Clearly you've spent time clinging to the edge of your seat watching old BBC reruns and not Family Guy.

Counter_Intelligent: So conservatives support state-supported television now?

Yes, as long as it's state funde, not federally funded and produced by conservative Republican governors. Because there's no chance that a Democrat could ever replace a Republican as a state Governor and start producing liberal TV programs.

So much derp in this article and the comments. These nut-jobs are intent on pushing a radical unpopular platform, and then when America rejects it, they blame it on the "liberal media" and any other excuse they can think of.

Keep banging that drum morons...

Good lord that article is a mess. Are they concerned about programming on NPR and PBS, or about lowest common denominator stuff like Honey Boo Boo? Are they concerned about PC Programming, or about MTV?

The funny thing is that the shows he likes are all arugula chomping leftie PBS programming. Honey Boo Boo is the one conservatives watch.

"public schools and university education"

After reading that piece, I can agree there's a problem there. But not the one this dunce is talking about.

Honestly, does anyone even proofread at the laughably-named American Thinker? There was a piece last week by one of their editors. It had misspellings in the title.

My 6th grade teacher would disagree. "But what about my content?" "I can't get to the content." *whips out red pen*

But considering the writers and readers of American Thinker dropped out in 5th grade I guess I can understand.

The left, of course, has used PBS, the National Endowment for the Arts, and public radio to present programming which quietly supports its philosophy for a long time.

Yea, you don't get more Marxist than Bob Ross, The Woodwright's Shop, and Lydia's Kitchen.

My Grandfather on my dad's side of the family made my father executor of his Will, stipulated: "Don't let a negro family move in my house." This was late 90's/early 2000's before the whole Tea Party really started disrupting my father's brain waves... So, he sold the house to a gay couple. We laughed for weeks about that one.

. Consider, for example, the effect of an entertainment series focusing on the hateful bigotries of radical feminists or the overbearing nature of college professors or the gleeful mischief of racial shakedown artists or the corruption of Washington journalists.

Boy those sound entertaining!

The British have done this magnificently. The BBC, hardly a hotbed of conservatism, has produced programming vastly better than anything Americans have produced and which is delightfully free of ideological straitjackets. Those of us who have watched series like Last of the Summer Wine, All Creatures Great and Small, Lovejoy Mysteries, All You Being Served?, and Yes, Prime Minister, or series like I, Claudius, know that government bureaucracies like the BBC, when serious about entertaining without preaching, create wonderful programming. It is a testament to these treasures that the viewer cannot guess about the politics of the actors or the producers. The programs deal with the human condition as it truly is.
