I guess there are only so many hypochondriacs who can obsess over which diseases they have.

I'm beginning to see web sites like TV shows: Very few last a long time, and when they finally do close up, you say "well, it was a good run."

It took more than 250 people to write articles that say "it's cancer"?

I work at WebMD. We lost two in our IT department, and a handful more at our facility. Most got let go in NYC and Atlanta.

It was a sad Tuesday.

Basically, the website wasn't getting as many advertising dollars when a lot of patents expired on some bigger drug companies.
What most people don't realize is that WebMD also offers health services to other companies, and that portion of the company is doing very well (as well as different applications and physical reading material). So now we're just reorienting and focusing our areas.

I'm pretty excited for the next couple years.

Every time I've tried to use Web MD it ends up scaring the hell out of me but then I go to the doctor, get real medical advice and it all turns out fine

A lot of other sites stepped in to do what WedMD does, like the Mayo Clinic has a symptom site for self diagnosis

You have ... leprosy!

Go to Mayo's website if you want info that is not bought and paid for by Big Pharma.

Shoutout to fellow WebMDer! Sad Tuesday, indeed. Let's hope it at least puts us in better shape for a while...
