Sword and Shield: I've done my fair share of photography, and know more than a few tricks, but this is one I've never yet tried.

Maybe I can give it a shot. How is it done? I've an old Canon AE1, but don't know how to crank the shutter for that long- longest regular setting is a minute or two.


Glue shutter open, use lense cap to stop exposure.

I hate that the first thing I noticed was that two of the New York ones were started three days before 9/11.


Given that the photographer is German and that the timestamps use dots instead of slashes, I bet that the date format is sane and not idiotic, i.e. that 9.8.2001 means the 9th of August. 

/still pretty close.
