harm dealer: Man this story has been going nuts here in Australia. So much stupidity. I don't blame the presenters at all - they cannot be held responsible for someone completely overreacting to a stupid stunt that would've blown over anyway.
LiquidSky: Nina_Hartley's_Ass: Legally the djs should be protected by free speech/press considerations though morally I have objections to fncking with a CAREGIVER AT A HOSPITAL or non-public figures in general. I imagine they've suffered enough and no one could have foreseen this outcome.Blaming Middleton is just idiotic and says more about a certain pretentious douche than it does about her.The royals might be a bunch of assholes who should be run out of town on a rail but not because they get prenatal care.I'm going to guess you're American ... the right to free speech as you're thinking of it doesn't exist in Australia. But actually that's beside the point, since it's not a free-speech issue at all. The DJ's recorded and broadcast a telephone call without consent of the other parties. That is against the law in certain Aussie states (and the show was broadcast nationally, so all state laws apply). The station has given a bunch of semi-conflicting excuses:- they tried to contact the hospital 5 times- their in-house lawyers approved the tape before the station broadcast it- the phone call was to the UK, so Aussie law doesn't apply anyway.I do agree that the DJ's have suffered enough. The station though ... I hope they get the book thrown at them.
