I like the ones that don't play football well, they make better film.

all NFL players are overpaid cry babies.

I'll believe that when I see it. ESPN doesn't know how to do anything but give all glory to the Tebow.

He then later added "but let's be real, you twits want Tebus so we'll keep putting his over hyped mug on TV"

Did someone just refer to the president of ESPN as a hero?

And jabber for days about such serious sports news as "handshake-gate." God, they talk about anything BUT actual play on ESPN radio and SportsCenter most of the time.

Completely undeserved Hero tag. ESPN's been the one feeding the Tebow frenzy the whole time, this guy is just realizing that they're overplaying him 3/4 of the way into the season. It's like if I got a Hero tag for kicking a puppy, then taking the puppy to the vet.

So they are going to ignore Tony Romo?

2012-12-11 02:48:31 PM
So...are they cancelling First Take? Cutting it's timeslot in half? How will Skip Bayless survive?

2012-12-11 02:49:24 PM
Well hey then. How about that Bart Starr? And Joe Namath? They were some players. And that Refrigerator guy, too. Let's see some football, people!

2012-12-11 02:50:04 PM
ESPN wasn't the villain before and ESPN isn't the hero now. ESPN talks about what audiences want to hear about, and now that the majority of football fans are getting a clue that Tebow just isn't very good, they're changing their emphasis.

Here is a better idea: Execute half of your on air personality on the SportsCenter follow PTI.

I would watch that.

"We're going to talk about Tebow less. TEBOW TEBOW TEBOW TEBOW."

He'll probably get his usual coverage - when the Cowboys win they won't say anything and when they lose it'll be his fault.

Spare Scot Van Pelt & Ryen Russillo from the culling though, as their ESPN Radio show is actually pretty good.

They've been fellating Worst Manning a lot more than Brady this year.

I liked at the beginning of the season when they went to Tebow milling about on the sidelines after every Jets play.

"Let's get Tebow's reaction...oop he's drinking Gatorade. I think that about says it all, ladies and gentlemen. This man is a hero."

2012-12-11 03:00:47 PM
Hey, did anybody see Matt Flynn's performance on Sunday? He has clearly proven himself to be the next Peyton Manning, and should probably be the starter going into the playoffs.

Sure, what do you want to say about it?

2012-12-11 03:08:46 PM
Number of Tebow's in the article: 8

I think ESPN's like, well we've talked about Tebow as a QB. We've talked about Tebow as a Christian. We've talked about Tebow as a hall-of-fame college football candidate. We've talked about Tebow being drafted in the 1st round. We've talked about Tebow being "He just wins games" Tebow.

We've talked about how much we talk about Tebow. We've talked about how much other people talk about Tebow. We've talked a lot about how other people say that we talk to much about Tebow. We've talked about shirtless Tebow. We've talked about Tebowing Tebow. We've talked about other people Tebowing.

We've talked about the Tebow QB controversy in Denver. We've talked about the Tebow QB controversy in New York. We've talked about how there isn't a Tebow QB controversy in Denver. We've talked about how there isn't a Tebow QB controversy in New York. We've talked about how there might be a Tebow controversy in Denver/NY if the current QB has a bad week.

We've talked about Tebow's throwing motion. We've talked about Tebow's ability to play in the option and wildcat offenses. We've talked about how ineffective Tebow's been this year. We've talked about how effective Tebow would be if he was just given the chance to play as a starter. We've talked about how Tebow can't make it as a QB but Tebow would be a geat FB or TE.

We've talked about how everyone knew Tebow would fail at the NFL level. We've talked about how Tebow will succeed one day when he's on the right team with the right coach in the right position. We've talked about what a great leader Tebow is. We've talked about what a great person Tebow is.

Tebow is the most Tebowish Tebow that has ever Tebowed.

So now it's... we're going to talk about NOT talking about Tebow!

YEAH!

Every season, without fail, the sports casters find some poor boob with a hard to pronounce, or fun to pronounce name and just go on and on about it. I first noticed this after making the mistake of playing a drinking game where we had to take a shot every time one of them said Tiki Barber.

later... it was Tiki Bllleerrrrrrrghhhhhh... uh...

Mostly that I find it odd that people think Gridiron Football is interesting at all next to the far more exciting Rugby Union.

ESPN programming absolutely rocked in the early 90's, but boy the decline after that was fast and hard. I've found it unwatchable for at least 10 years. Meaning I see it once in a while by happenstance, quickly grow nauseous, and remember why I never, ever watch it voluntarily anymore.

I don't understand who DOES watch it. Is there a sports equivalent demographic for Jersey Shore and Honey Booboo viewers? Must be, I guess.

You know, I don't think I have ever actually watched Skip Bayless on TV. I might have read an article or two by him but can't specifically recall. But plenty of people whom I know and trust say he's an idiot and a jackhole, and that's good enough for me. Same goes for Colin Cowherd.

make cubes his permanent cohost on first take, rename show to cubes pimp slaps skip for 21 and 1/2 minutes, interspersed with commercials promoting espn followed by a new show about how great espn is, ESPN!

/now for your espn update on the status of espn reporting that espn is no longer quoting sources about tim tebow, that tim will no longer be covered every 35 seconds on espn

Well that is a new and fascinating viewpoint. It has never been brought up by rugby fans in any football thread ever. Good thing you're here.

This is just one instance that is indicative of a much larger problem at ESPN and sports in general thanks to their utter reliance on ESPN for relevance.

Skip Bayless has made a career out of being completely, 100% wrong about "insider info" all of the time, but then treated as if he's right all of the time.

In fact, it's easier to just guess the opposite of whatever he says. You have better odds of being correct.
